We booked this last minute as we didn’t plan to stay in Galveston another day. Overall, the hotel had lots of cosmetic issues, appeared old, dirty and a bit run down. Upon getting to our room we noticed our TV wouldn’t power on. Checked plug ins, remote that didn’t require battery, tried a different plug to no luck. TV had no power button to physically push, went to front desk and attendant gave us a Samsung remote for her front TV to try (it didn’t work). She said there wasn’t anything else she could do but move our party of 6 to a king bed. We asked could the TV be traded out but we keep our room and she didn’t answer and said idk how day shift handles this…. Not offering to call someone to find out, she just said maintenance is gone as well. Well obviously it’s 11pm. The hair dryer looked as if it’d been rusted out or on fire. Our room had stains on the curtains, the bathtub we chose not to even use to shower but to just rinse the sand off our feet off in because it just grossed us out that much. The sheets had 3 stains on one bed which appeared to be small blood stains. When we checked out I mentioned to now day crew our TV didn’t work, returned the front desk remote and explained the situation, wasn’t offered a credit or any “fix” or let me call a manager which really upset my husband. He said we spent 180 on a room, and that’s more than the staff make in a shift. Spending 180.00 on a dirty room, with a broken TV, no solutions, and overall unwillingness to correct.
