“A treat to stay in the only remaining Frank Lloyd wright designed hotel. The staff and area in general focus on having it in mason city. Staff is very friendly. The historic tour(extra charge) was very interesting and well done. If you don’t take the tour, stop in the gift shop where the clerk appears to like sharing information, too.”

“Staff was very nice and accommodating. The building needs major updating. Doors are heavy and stick in place. Carpeting in rooms should be replaced with laminate for health reasons. In the room where we stayed, the toilet seat was loose and slid every time we sat. The refrigerator door didn’t close, so it was useless, and electrical outlets didn’t adequately hold a plug. Although the bathroom was probably clean, it “felt” dirty because it was so outdated - sealant strips along the bathtub to……

“Im sure the staff are trying their best, but immediately upon receiving my key... it did not work. I went back downstairs to be given a new key but was given a new room (not a big deal). I struggled to get into the property with that key too, but eventually the door opened. Once in the room was a lot cleaner than expected, but my husband was complaining about a strong odor (I lost my sense of smell a long time ago). We started investigating and discovered brown stains on the sheets. Shortly……

“Never ever take this hotel.....it's the most disgusting hotel that we ever stay before!! I even got itching after sat on the couch! By the way, we'ad booked for 4 nights for 2 rooms , but the front desk sent us an invoice and asked us to check-out (paid everything upfront)on the 4th morning; although we're more than happy to leave it, but who is going to return me the difference?”

“Hot tub and pool closed and wasn’t notified. Building needs work outside. Parking lot needs striped. Smoking area should not be so close to entrance.”
