My room was clean and spacious. The air conditioner kept the room warm and comfortable. The views and privacy were great and the receptionist was helpful and polite. I would recommend the Emerald Hotel as a great place to stay while visiting the Gisborne area.

Very spacious hotel with large rooms but the decor was well behind the times and the overall maintenance of the complex was well overdue. The outside window windows were dirty and the interior air-conditioning unit was filthy other than this the staff were great the location was good.

Feels so run-down; staff are not as friendly as in other places. There was so much road noise in the room that I stayed in; considering I was there for 2 nights, I have stayed here about 6 times, & it gets worse every time I stay here, which is unfortunate, because the first time I stayed here, I was super impressed!
