The mermaid cottage is a sunny quaint cottage with a large sunny kitchen, cozy living room, and large upstairs bedroom with comfy bed. Walk across the street and take a dip in Lanes Cove, watch the gorgeous sunsets, throw your kayak in the cove and explore, Walk to halibut point state park (1.4m) or Plum Cove Beach (.7) miles. There is a quaint local store and a delicious cafe around the corner ( 5 minute walk) in the quaint village of Lanesville.

Great location. Great cottage. Great vacation.
We loved staying in the Mermaid Cottage. Clean and comfortable, Kara pays attention to details that matter in design of the space and thinking of her guests---from the flowers in the front & back yard to a private table in the back for meals or writing, and a Buddha statue, to the eclectic books and well chosen prints artfully arranged inside, beach towels, chairs and an umbrella right by the door, a laundry basket in the closet and the bathroom is heated for the nights you get out of the shower and it's cool. The bed is comfortable, and I'm a picky sleeper, the hardwood floors beautiful, the kitchen and bath are sleek and modern. And the cottage is in a great location in the village of Lanesville, a 15 minute walk from a fabulous swimming beach, and 5 minutes from coves and lookout points over the Atlantic and 10 minutes from a pastry/sandwich shop and a wine/beer store. Lots of attractions are also within an easy drive: Halibut Point State Park, Wingaersheek & Good Harbor beaches, Rockport & Bearskin Neck, are all within 5-15 minute drives. We will definitely return to the Mermaid Cottage and highly recommend it!

Our stay at the Mermaid Cottage
We loved the Mermaid Cottage, it was very clean, well equipped, and quite spacious. Because we are older, the steep stairs from the bedroom to the downstairs bathroom was a bit of a challenge, but fortunately no mishaps. Would have appreciated a microwave to heat numerous leftovers from local restaurants, otherwise no complaints. We would highly recommend for anyone who doesn't have a concern about climbing stairs in the middle of the night.
