Dated Sept 12, 2026 Despite all the terrible reviews we have seen the hotel room was very clean and the beds were very good. We enjoyed our stay and if we ever return to Gold River that is where we will stay. On the other hand we went to the other hotel's restaraunt to have a bite to eat and even though we only ordered an appetizer it took over 45 minutes to get our food.

This place was very old with some minor upgrades. The linen was clean, most tenants seem to be there long term and well established in their rooms.

Ridgeveiw isn't fancy to look at but that's not what is important. It is very clean, and room was comfortable. Plus they have extra blankets ( the kind that will actually keep you warm) and exyra pillows. I was actually asked if we wanted the tv. My dream as I always thought it would be nice to have that option. The owner was very nice and patient when we couldn't figure out the remotes.🙃 Also it was extremely quiet and peaceful and that is exactly what we needed. We are already planning to go back and stay a few days. There is also a pub /restaurant just up the hill called the Ridgeveiw pub. They have excellent food. We can't wait to go back

Staff were pleasant and helpful. However, we arrived quite late at night and found that our room was not ready and we had to wait half an hour before we could get into it. We still found dirt in some corners although the beds and sinks and dishes were clean. In a very small town with limited accommodation choices, it was sufficient for spending the night, but certainly not luxury accommodation.

The room was poorly maintained- unclean surfaces, stained bedding, bare minimum amenities (no spare towels or toilet paper, no covers in spare bedding, no AC), dates furniture. The staff were regularly smoking out front and had all of the cleaning supplies, beer cans, etc out front so it smelled and looked gross. Check-in took >1hr because the one (?) guy on shift was doing check in and cleaning as guests arrived- he was hustling though so I felt for him. Would not stay again.
