Our family has vacationed in Greer for nearly 30 years, since our boys were small children. When we gave up our tent trailer, we looked into the cabin get-a-way, and have rented Sargent's Cabins on numerous occasions. Both Sargent's Hideaway and Sargent's Cabin served us well, But now our boys have families, and we moved up to Sargent's Lodge two years ago. (The next step will likely be Sargent's Hacienda.)
Our stay at the Lodge this past Labor Day weekend was perfect, as always. Jay keeps the cabin in pristine condition. Most everything is provided with the exception of clothing, personal items, and food. There was plenty of room for the grandkids and all the adults. The boys had fun playing on the large deck and out on the lawn in the built-in horseshoe pit. We barbecued steaks and trout on the gas grill and dined, both outdoors on the terrace, and at the large dining room table. The view of the valley, mountains, and Little Colorado is exquisite. (Our oldest son caught his first trout many years ago just a stone's throw away from the cabin.) At night, we could clearly see the Milky Way over our heads, and we watched the moon and Venus set in the west.
We have utilized Sargent's Cabins during all seasons of the year. Whether it be a ski trip, or summer retreat, the facility is conducive to a variety of indoor and outdoor activities in any type of weather. The WiFi at the Lodge is most helpful, and there is even a phone, if needed. The Lodge is in close proximity to shopping, restaurants and medical facilities in Springerville, cross country and downhill skiing, walking, hiking and mountain biking. Bird watching, flora, and fauna are all a foregone conclusion. (A bluebird greeted us every morning from its perch in the Ponderosa Pine next to the Lodge.) There are also wonderful eating spots in Greer, as well as other attractions to enjoy. For anglers, there are numerous spots along the Little Colorado, the Greer Lakes, Sunrise and Big Lake, to mention just a few bodies of water close by.
Jay and family exude pride of ownership, and are generous in sharing their properties with renters. From the time we entered the Lodge living room with the interesting array of stuffed trophies and art displayed on the walls, to the moment we departed for home, our time at Sargent's Lodge was marked with joy and relaxation. As our older son remarked, "I want my children to experience all the great times we had in Greer as kids."
We look forward to returning!
