Let me preface this review, with the fact that Expedia listed this property as in Darby, Montana, when in fact it was an hour outside of Darby essentially, and I also did not expect it to be a "bed and breakfast" as we booked in a hurry, and it was buried in the details. Our biggest issue was that it says "Children Welcome", yet, we were charged an additional $50 for our two kids, when we arrived, and told that our 4 year old was a problem because they didn't take kids under 10, which was not listed on anything prior to booking even when we went back to check. We felt it was a little rude to be told that, but we did appreciate the late check in as we were traveling from glacier.
Anyway, the property itself, is beautiful. The cabins, are essentially small storage buildings with a bathroom, loft area, and bed. No AC, but stayed cool with windows open at night. They are finished well inside with shiplap etc, and fine for a nights stay. Everything was clean as well. However, I do feel it's over priced.
Overall, it was disappointing to be greeted with negativity about having our kids with us, and surprised with extra charges, however, take that away and the property is nice, if overpriced.
Frankly, my wife and I stayed here because it was the only room we could find available in the area. My first concern was the distance from the highway. This, however, was not an issue. The road is in great shape, you can cruise around 60 mph most of the way. Only the last half mile is unpaved and its not bad. Altogether, a wonderful drive.
We were met at the main lodge by David, who was an outstanding host. Very pleasant and accommodating, he offered us the guest room in the lodge. The lodge was comfortable and clean, in the style you would expect in a Montana B&B.
Breakfast was outstanding, the conversation was good, and grounds were in top shape. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Wild Game Inn to anyone, and hope someday to return.
This place was extremely overpriced and the hosts were absolutely terrible. It seems they lack hospitality experience and they try to sell you everything they can. The cabins are very small and most of the pictures on their website are of the main house which you are only allowed in during breakfast hours...or should I say hour (they changed from 8-10am to 8-9am because they didnt want to wait around for everyone). Beautiful area but if you can, stay somewhere else!! I highly doubt these five star reviews were written by actual guests.
We've traveled all over. And we must say this was a wonderful B&B. Dave & Tracy are awesome host's . The Cabins are fabulous and on a trout ridden stream. We took the ATV'S to the Waterfall which feeds the stream. Mountain Paradise.
Tracy is a true 5 star chef.
Breakfast was out of this world. And the homemade Ice Cream is the best we have ever had. We'll be back next year or sooner!
If you want a peaceful retreat, exploring the beauty of the mountains and wildlife, this is it! David and Tracy are the best hosts, accommodating our every need. We highly recommend the Wild Game Inn!
Beautiful, clean and the Innkeeper's were fantastic. We stayed at their Eastern Shore location last year and we received the same fabulous service in Montana.
