WINTER SPECIAL FOR STAYS IN JANUARY AND FEBRARY!
Waterfront property includes use of private dock, infinity beach pit and 2 kayaks. GRIF's GETAWAY is a cozy, fully furnished vintage inspired cottage that has been recently renovated, with 2 bedrooms and 1 large 4 pc bath that includes everything you will need to get away for a weekend or longer to re-energize yourself! Bedrooms include antique queen beds with foam toppers and vintage linens (you won't want to get out of bed!), closet space with shelves to hold your suitcases/belongings with an additional queen sofa sleeper in the living room. Foam topper, linens and blankets also included for the sleeper sofa. Total sleeping to accommodate 6 comfortably. Surrounded by trees, the calmness of the outdoors and tranquility overlooking beautiful Lake Hawkins is unmatched! Watch the sun rise over the lake with your morning coffee, then wind down in the evening having s'mores at the firepit as the sun sets. Enjoy the private boat dock for securing a boat, or to fish, swim, kayak or just chill overlooking the lake. Outdoor furniture (table and chairs) on the house deck and on the dock provided. Includes a Gas Grill and a Weber Charcoal grill on the deck if you choose to cook or enjoy the fully stocked kitchen inside. Taking a walk each morning is a treat! Everyone on the lake is so friendly and looking out for each other. Vintage charm is everywhere in the cottage from the painted wood floor living room with fireplace, beadboard walls/ceiling, multiple quilts throughout, bathroom sink vanity and other decor. Eat in kitchen for 2 or dining table for 6 available. A well-behaved pet is welcome with a NR $50 fee. You'll want "our place" to be "your place" for your next getaway!

Lake Hawkins is a very clear, spring-fed lake with beautiful winding roads and hills - perfect for walking, bicycling or motorcycling. Great nature-watching, including hawks, bald eagles, ducks, grey herons - all kind of wild birds, deer, foxes, squirrels and rabbits. Good bass, crappie, and bream fishing! A public beach at Lake Hawkins County Park is down the road, just a few minutes away.

GRIF's GETAWAY at Lake Hawkins is 15 miles from Mineola, TX on Highway 80 West, which has unique shops and great places to eat. The Mineola Nature Preserve is over 2900 acres of pristine nature and the winery next door is a bonus! If you head down Highway 80 East, you will arrive at Gladewater, known as the Antique Capital of East Texas (one of our favorite places to spend the day shopping and eating). A fabulous Italian restaurant, Rima's Taste of Italy, is within walking distance of the cottage, on the lake and is absolutely a must! Additional information regarding things to do, places to visit and eat is supplied in the Welcome book.

The hosts of the property are amazing! There are too many special details to list. The cabin is decorated adorably and according to the season. The dock has two rocking chairs and beautiful for stargazing. We really enjoyed our stay and definitely will be back!

Had a great time at the cottage. Lake Hawkins is a beautiful getaway. We caught plenty of fish and made lots of memories with our 2 year old grandbaby. The dock and fire pit were our favorites. Red Rooster Ice house is definitely a must out to eat option. We loved it.

Fun week at the lake

We randomly found this property while searching for a getaway. It was the cutest little lake house. Stocked with everything you need. We grilled majority of the time(they have both charcoal and gas grills), beds were comfortable and plenty of towels. The area is super quiet and peaceful. The best feature by far is the dock. We spent our entire week out there jumping in the water, paddle boarding, kayaking and fishing. We caught so many fish! Owner was great and easy to contact and chat with. We absolutely hope to stay here again!

Quiet Getaway

Overall this was a pleasant stay. Its truly a vintage cottage from old fashioned coffee pot (dont bring your kurig pods)to no dishwasher. Some of the furnishings definitely need updating (couch). Other than that the dock is very nice. The neighborhood is beautiful. The hosts are excellent. Very responsive.

Peace, Quiet and relaxation

We had a great time at the cottage. The accommodations are accurately described and I was not disappointed at all. We did have a rain day but went to the shops in Mineola and then got some good nap time in listening to the rain drops on the tin roof. We had a great time fishing too. It is a beautiful place and we hope to return.

The pictures on the Internet looked represented the property. Caught two nice bass facility was clean. Beds were comfortable grocery store reasonably Close. Awesome sitting on the porch and looking at the view of the lake. The kayaks are a little wobbly and a little difficult to navigate on a longer tour, but I appreciate the fact that we got to use them for free.

Not a Lake I would Swim In

House was charming and comfortable; and the host was easy to work with. (She did let us cut our trip short and refunded a night after I called her.) However, the lake was not clear and I could not swim off the dock. I had planned a day of swimming, relaxing, and laying out on my air mattress on the lake and based off the VRBO description I thought I had found the perfect place. But the lake water was stagnated and had lilly pads, algea, vegitation, turtles, and even snakes around the dock. The only time I got in the water was when I tripped on a loose, broken board on the dock and fell into the water by accident. I am still limping around. I did see slides off docks around the lake and maybe people do swim off their docks. But we did talk to a couple of locals who said they don't swim in it.

Neat and tidy vintage cottage with beautiful lake views.

It is even cuter in person than online. The cottage has a nice deck for gathering with a larger group. We were in town for a new baby in the family and all of our children and their families were able to stop in at different times and visit. The dock has a beautiful view of Lake Hawkins and the water is crystal clear. There is a wonderful Italian restaurant about a mile away.

Relaxing Weekend

We have faced the passing of two loved ones over the past 6 months and needed to have a quiet reminiscing weekend together. We loved the beautiful lake view and the decor of the quaint, cozy cottage. We hope to visit the property again as we have family at HLR, and this is a perfect location.

A Little Slice of Heaven

I can't say enough about this quaint lake cottage! Everything about it was fabulous! Our arrival was pleasantly met with Christmas music being played, making us feel at home. My mother lives down the road in HLR, so we're very familiar with the area. I must say that being at the lake was so relaxing. The cottage was so clean and peaceful. Loved the fully stocked kitchen ware. Beds were very comfortable. We did experience a2-3 hour power outage, but it's to be expected in the area. Other than that it was perfect! Would stay again! Thank you Phil and Toni for opening up your home!

We were allowed to have our little dog with us, and we could walk him along the lake. The cottage was furnished to perfection, and it was warm and inviting. We would love to return and highly recommend this accommodation to others.
