A proper hotel with a night porter - a rare thing in the 21st century. Some may lament the lack of a cooked breakfast, but frankly who really needs one? The continental breakfast is fine.

Lovely hotel. Amazing staff. Only downfall was the church bells that ring on the hour. Including overnight. Would stay again even with the chimes due to the amazing staff and homely feel of the hotel.

Beautiful hotel, great rooms and a very pleasant and (proactive) helpful staff. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for diner but alternatives were provided. I arrived with a large bike case as I was going to do some bikepacking in the Argyll and it was no problem at all to leave my bike case in the hotel for a week.

Kein Aufzug. Frühstück einfach aber gut.

Looks ok from the outside. Not so once inside. Room was not very clean. Someone else's toe nail clippings on carpet at side of bed. Bathroom had not been cleaned properly. Room looked dated.Staff were excellent but run off their feet as not enough staff to cover the tasks they have to do. No full English breakfast which was part of the booking so had to put up with continental. All in all a very average stay for the money paid.

Lovely staff, but the hotel could be so much better by upgrading the rooms and increasing availability of food on offer. The gardens could also be beautiful if maintained properly. Regular bus service to and from Helensburgh which has lots of restaurants to choose from, but would be nice to be able to eat in the hotel if have been out all day.
