Beautiful beach wit massive turtles!
#blue Located just south of downtown Hilo on the Big Island’s east shore, Onekahakaha Beach Park is the ideal beach for families with small children and for tidepooling. There is a sand-bottomed cove that is separated from the open ocean by a boulder break, so the nearshore waters are shallow and free of currents or wave action. Also, lifeguards are on duty year-round. Surrounding the cove are a few tide pools, which are sometimes visited by sea turtles. The largest one of them is home to a large population of sea urchins, as well as sea cucumbers, brittle stars, cone shells, sea urchins and sea anemones. However, this pool is not as children-friendly as it has a rockier and deeper bottom and is not protected by the breakwater. Also, it is subject to currents. The water is crystal clear and shallow behind the boulder wall so its a great place to watch beautuful waves hit the rocks. We did see at least two water turtles wading here. The kids loved it!

Staff was friendly. Great first floor bar. Trash can in the room was not emptied for five days. Same two glass were in the room all week with no new glasses supplied. All in all I liked the hotel. Nice location. The restaurant needs to stay open later than 9:00 during the week.

Lovely space. Across from bar. Lovely views. Very nice room. Great shower. Comfortable beds. Bidet! Very helpful staff. Small but 24hr useful gym. 24hr coffee and tea. Paddle board and bike rental easy and fun. Easy free parking. Will definitely start here again

Fully equiped kitchen, clean & good sized. Hamoock on the balcony was great to enjoy the sounds of the frogs & waves crashing in the distance. Great spot for my needs. Easy acess to the National Park without dealing with city traffic.
