  • I took this photo in Messinia, Greece in summer 2016. It's of Voidokilia Beach and it's surroundings. Voidokilia Beach is on the Peloponnese peninsula and it was the most picturesque beach that I visited during that Greek trip, which was almost exclusively in Messinia. On that mountain is Nestor's Cave and above this are the ruins of a 13th-century Frankish castle (Old Navarino or Palaiokastro). Look closely and you will see :). I didn't get to walk up there. It was brutally hot that day and I spent most of the time at the beach. But, I did make time for some hiking. Near where I took this photo there was a lot of medieval or ancient ruins. Near those beautiful rocks. I had to be careful when walking on them, but it was worth it!

Great hotel

Hotel was in great location. Near to beach. Very clean and staff were fantastic. Really good breakfast included.

Great hotel in the center of Methoni

A very nice and calm hotel, only some hundred meters away from the castle, the beach and the restaurants. Elegant lobby to spend time, rooms with lots of space and nice extras like a hanger for drying clothes. Very nice and helpful staff.

Πολυ καλο ξενοδοχειο. Σεβεται τον πελατη.

Η διαμονη μας ηταν πολυ ανετη, το δωματιο πολυ προσεγμενο με ωραια διακοσμηση, πολυ ωραια κρεββατια και στρωματα. Ακομα και τα μαξιλαρια ήταν τα καλυτερα που εχω δει σε ξενοδοχειο. Οι ανθρωποι πολυ φιλικοι και ευγενικοι.Για το πρωινο δεν εχουμε αποψη γιατι δεν πηραμε εκει. Το συστηνουμε ανεπιφυλακτα.

Удивительное место!!!! Отель в центре города на центральной улице. Если путешествуете сами на машине, иначе туда не добраться - стоит искать город Метони, а не Пилос, как в подтверждении. Пилос брать как направление, от Пилоса на машине еще минут 25-30. Возможно есть такие же названия вблизи других городков. Минуты 3 до прекрасного песчаного пляжа ( в летний сезон платный - платишь за напиток ) и наслаждаешься в свое удовольствием солнцем, чистейшим морем и прекрасными видами. Завтрак в отеле лучше не брать, он состоит из кексов, сэндвичей, масла, сока кофе или чая. Номера с балконами (столик, стулья, сушилка для купальников и полотенец). Очень приятные номера, современный дизайн. Все очень чисто и опрятно. В номере холодильник. Прекрасная хозяйка с изумительной улыбкой. Парковка для авто у самой гостиницы.

This experience could not have been improved upon. The buildings are beautifulThe apartment was huge and well appointed.State of the art tv's and temperature control. Wonderful beds and towels.Proprietor Dimetrius is friendly, informed and organized. At breakfast he high lighted the local specialties and detailed how they are prepared. He had a printed list of eateries in the area detailing their specialties, a sight seeing list. This topped off by an excellant Mani map and verbal directions. Many locales were within a 10 minute walk. I wasted a day in Kalamata that I would gladly have swapped for Aeropoli's Achelates Guest House. Lastly, the town has as much atmosphere as the guest house.

Excellent service

A nice little hotel which in itself was a bit away from the beach but still within walking distance. But great service and relatively cheap as did their best to make you happy. Not to mention the breakfast .....

Relaxing place to be

Booked 4 nights and decided to remain for the week because we felt the Achilles could not be bettered for value and friendliness.

Friendly, welcoming hotel in Methoni

We visited in January, which is very rare and we were the only guests! The owner, Elena and her husband Panajotis were very welcoming and friendly. The hotel is right in the centre of town, near to restaurants, shops, the castle and the beach. Our room had a lovely balcony and was very clean. Our reasons for reducing the overall rating is that the rooms are a little dated and there was only Greek TV. Elena is planning a renovation of the rooms later this year, so I am sure the rating will go up!

Rooms with very basic furniture but very comfortable beds, the bathrooms need a re-styling, nice small terraces, good cleaning in the room. The staff tries to be helpful but is a little bit rough.

Abbiamo pernottato una sola notte ad Agosto in questo dignitoso Albergo. Ottimo per chi non ha grandi pretese. La prima cosa che salta nell'occhio è la grossa discrepanza tra l'aspetto esterno( carino , curato e ristrutturato) rispetto l'aspetto interno delle camere( aspetto tipico delle camere anni 80). Nonostante ció la camera è dignitosa, pulita e comoda. Possibilità di parcheggiare dietro L'albergo.

Great for couples and business people.

The beds are a bit hard and shower not the greatest, but the owners keep the premises very tidy and clean and are the nicest people to deal with. They speak good english and tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The area is suffering from lack of tourists and business but everyone was friendly and making due with what they have. We felt very welcome from the start and felt comfortable everywhere.

This is a lovely hotel. For a budget price, you can have a great big room, large balconies. Staff/owners are very friendly and helpful. and its located in walking distance to restaurants/bars and the main attractions of Methoni - its sandy bay beach and the Venetian castle. Will come again.

We stayed at the Achilles Hotel in September 2011 and had a friendly welcome from the charming manager. She ensured that our stay was comfortable. She informed us about the local area and offered us wine from her family's farm. Both the room and breakfast were good.We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

my third stay there; that must say something

the hotel is on a busy road - find one in the heart of athens which isn't! - and you have to choose between ventilation with noise, and shutting TWO double-glazed doors and putting on the air-conditioning. i actually prefered to feel part of the busy city. rooms are immaculate and large as was the bathroom; my only minor criticism would be that the double bed was actually 2 singles pushed together ( i know that some dislike this ). good fridge, and the tv even got bbc world news, a rarity in greece. good and plentiful continental breakfast. staff are friendly and helpful, and speak good english. no idea what parking would be like, but i would urge you not to even think of taking a car into athens; traffic is manic and you are bound to get lost; use the metro which is brilliant and cheap, and will get you quickly to all the main places. at the price i paid this was a bargain hotel and i shall certainly be back.
