This property was a disappointment. The property needed painting and there was no security at night. Door to our room was flimsy and we were worried someone could get in. With no security we were awakened every night at 3:00 AM by 20 year olds jumping and screaming at the pool until 5:00.The people in the room next to us tried to contact the property manager but no one would answer the phone. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Location, location, location!!Great location!! Had no interactions with staff, self check-in, no daily service on room( which was fine for us).
The room was spacious, bed comfy. Limited parking in the three lots, we arrived at the house at 5 pm on check-in day and nothing in the lot of the house we were in. Crossed the street and found one spot remaining. Parking is first come first serve. If no spots you have to find parking in a paid lot, or pay for street parking. We parked on day one and walked everywhere for the next 3 days.
10 min walk to Yankee Freedom if you are going to the Dry Tortugas. Good morning walk to 5 Brothers Grocery and sandwich shop, less than a mile away, great Cuban coffee, and Cuban sandwich. Small family business, not a chain, and they open at 6:30am.
Food/ drink/ shopping just around the corner on Duval.
Cleanliness: room looked clean, but I noticed after showering my feet were dirty when leaving the bathroom. The floors appeared clean to the eye but needed a good cleaning. The window sills needed a good cleaning also.
It was. Great that they provided a box of Tida and washer and dryer outside. Got a load of laundry done before we checked out.

The pool was clean and warm, with plenty of chairs. Easy access to ice, water and linens. Great on parking. We heard others say they had issues with noise from people upstairs from their room; however, we found it nice and quiet. We loved the front porch to sit and drink coffee. I would recommend!

The room was not very clean. There were boards missing on the floor. If there wasn't a dirty rug on the floor, we would have fallen to the room below. There was minimal space for anything in the bathroom. There was no fire escape. If a fire broke out, unless you got down the stairs, you would die jumping from the balcony. The room could use a table or two to put things on. The TV was worthless as you would need to break your neck to look at it. The only thing positive about it is the location. I would never stay there again.

Really enjoyed the stay, but the property is aging and we had a couple electrical hiccups while there. I think the central location is great, and it truly is a gem of a house. We encountered no staff while here -- pretty much code access. Maintenance was prompt when contacted, and so was customer service by phone when needed.

ants in bed (killed 15) ... no hot water for 5 days despite repeated calls and claims that it had been fixed... no staff available in person and limited by phone ... dangerous steps at night (inside to room on 2nd fl) with no lighting ...

Building is run down, rotten planks on rear deck, filthy railing on front step, needs paint.
Bathroom is too small, two people can not use at same time, bathtub is too small and has mold on the tub and walls.
Only one ac remote worked, fan and light in bedroom did not work.
I have paid a lot less for a lot better room in Key West!
Definitely would not stay again nor recommend for friends and acquaintances!

The room was dated - no smart tv and furniture was old. The shower did not have a curtain - which was odd because a shower curtain rod was there. Not really what we expected in a king suite but it was still a great week in key west with friends.

The room was substandard. The rug was filthy and the room itself could use a deep cleaning. It was cold when we arrived and the AC/heating unit blew such stale and offensive air we couldn't use it. The staff gave us an extra blanket and heating unit.
I'm sure the place had a glorious past but those times are gone by. It's apparent that profit rules supreme.

This is literally the house built by the original Florida millionaire. It is historically significant and a treat to explore. Our first night included a false fire alarm at midnight which was great for meeting our co-inmates. Terrible choice for people with mobility issues, stairs and no working elevator, etc. The management is off premises which can be inconvenient. We found parking acceptable but has first come first serve so could be a problem during peak times. The location in old town was pretty good actually, putting you within two blocks of trolley stop, restaurants, etc. The biggest drawback is general lethargy of maintenance. Faucet aerators long overdue for replacement, heat didn't work in several rooms, poor cleaning practices, etc. This is an interesting historical property in a good location with unusually poor corporate management. A pity, so much lost potential. Would not stay there again.
