This condo is in great condition, well appointed (I travel with a knife sharpener and actually only needed it for one knife...unusual in a rental). The management company (Suite Paradise) seems organized and decent, but there are some significant strata issues in the complex that bubbled (or rather failed to bubble...no hot tub...more about that later) over during our stay. We arrived to find Kahala 1 pool (the only one with a hot tub) roped off with orange netting. We snuck in with another gal...and then an owner came by and explained the pool/area had been supposed to reopen since August, and under repair for 6 months. Another owner griped to us about paying $1400/mo in strata fees and not having this pool working...not nice for our vacation to hear that kind of stuff. The ETA on the hot tub reopening remains a mystery. We used the pool, fenceless, as the next closest is by #8 and is heavily shaded and cold. NOTE: although there are multiple pools on this complex, they are not accessible to renters from all buildings. Guests can access the Poipu Beach Club, which has a hot tub and a nice pool...but it is not walking distance (not with a bag of beach gear anyhow). I specifically picked this condo due to proximity to the Kahala 1 pool with hot tub. Staying in Poipu is among the most expensive on the Island - we paid a 'premium'. When we checked in and asked about the pool, the response from the management company was along the lines of "Hawaiian time" and "you have the whole Ocean to swim in"...fyi Poipu beach is very crowded with snorkelers who have bleached the coral, and outside of Poipu beach the signs say the water is dangerous (and looked it)...unacceptable. We appreciated the chilled wine in the fridge, the appliances all worked great, and it really is a beautiful condo, but we won't stay again given the lack of communication on the pool and our sense that things are not going well for this residence. Summary: condo itself = clean, well supplied, parking spot close to entry (there are stairs in case that matters...about 8-10), very nice unit and thanks to owner! Complex management = not so much.
