“DO NOT STAY HERE, ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE REGARDING VRBO/HOTEL STAY OF MY ENTIRE LIFE. THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE AS WELL. Came for July 4th weekend and was informed the pool was closed for a private event upon checking in for the day of JULY 4TH for 2-8 PM. We tried to use the pool at 8:15 PM and security informed us the event was running over and not allowed to enter. After complaining, the MANAGER OR OWNER of property called the police and asked us to vacate the property for trying to……

“Gruene River Hotel + Retreat is a FANTASTIC place for the complete "hotel experience." Each room is individually decorated, and it's a joy to make little discoveries in the decor that contribute to the overall theme. We've stayed in the 1776 Room, The Vineyard and Cozy Cabin, and all were fantastic. The breakfast is first rate, they serve free beer and wine for happy hour, and the property is just beautiful, with its limestone and multi-level deck where you can watch the river flow and see deer……

“We had 2 rooms and both rooms were infested with roaches. One of our rooms smelled like cat pee and in the other room on one of beds our bed when there were some type of insect on the bed when we pulled back the blanket. The front desk just offered to spray our room with medicine and refused to cancel and give me a refund because it was after check out time.”

“The room was perfectly fine. I would prefer to have soap available close to the sink - not in a container on the wall. No major problems... I thought the price was a bit high for equivalent lodging - I would stay again only if there was a 'special' -”

“Stayed for a quick two night trip to float the river. Our room was very clean. Bed and pillows were comfortable. We didn't use the pool but it was right outside our window. Looked very clean and lit up nicely in the evening. Shower pressure was good. Front desk was friendly and fast checking us in at 1am. Would stay again.”
