Great Locations but extra visitors
Great location but we had to cut our trip short. Every night you could hear rats running around. The in-laws saw some on the restroom and you can heard them trough the walls.

Thank you for the review. We were so sorry to hear about this problem as we exterminate regularly due to it being the Hill Country full of critters. We exterminated again upon your departure and believe the problem is under control. We take guest reviews and problem reports very seriously and were happy to refund the remainder of the one night stay. Just know we have taken measures to assure there is no longer a rodent problem in the Whiskey Mountain. We appreciate your making us aware of this problem and again we sincerely apologize for any disruption this caused with your visit.

sewage issues
The location and communication with the host was great, however there was an issue with the sewage system over following into the yard. This caused one of the bathrooms to be out of order which was inconvenient with 18 people staying in the house. Other than that it was great.

Thank you for the good review. We have already discussed the cause of the septic issues being feminine hygiene products flushed down the septic system by one of their younger female guests. Despite the mishap Jessey and his group were very kind and respectful. The House was kept in immaculate condition otherwise and we would host them again as they were very apologetic and concerned.

Had so much fun!
Over all we had a great stay. Nice property but a little cramped for our big Ol’ Family. One small issue with a door but nothing that kept us from enjoying our stay:)

Thank you for your review! We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again. Maybe next time you can book a cabin or two in addition to the house so you will feel less cramped. :)

Great historic house on the Frio!
Great historical house with an amazing property! Plenty big enough for the entire family. Only cons for us were having to bring your own towels and sheets plus no washer and dryer. So if your staying longer period of time with the whole family not having this amenity can be a bummer. Also having an actual shower would be nice! Overall great house, great host and plenty to offer.

Great escape in the Hill Country
My family and I had a fantastic time at the Whiskey Mountain Cabins. The main house was very quaint and provided a great place for everyone to gather. Our host, Cassie, was also very helpful while we were planning for the trip. We will definitely return.

Rental did not match the high price per night
At first glance it’s beautiful but then you stay the first night and notice….The doors don’t close, the furniture is falling apart, the restrooms are dirty one restroom doesn’t have a stand up shower, only an old fashion tub with a hand held shower attachment, only the two children took a bath in that restroom, the adults took a shower in the upstairs bathroom we had to put a towel to stand in tub because it was filthy and it had mildew around tub, the sinks are old and dirty, one room doesn’t have a door, the twin beds are low end that they make so much noise at night, some mattresses are comfortable but other mattresses were so bad that we had to go buy air mattresses to be able to sleep, the window units were loud and had a musty smell and the septic system is so bad, WiFi is weak even when there is an emergency the phones are useless. Yes, I understand that it’s a cabin in the country and it should be rustic and it is used to relax but it shouldn’t be dirty and falling apart. Expectations are high for the price and it should match the rental house. We won’t come back.

The house was built in the 1800's and therefore the bathrooms are small and the downstairs bathroom would not accommodate a shower comfortably. We chose to keep the clawfoot bathtub because of it's rustic appeal. The bathroom appliances are rustic in appearance, but are well cleaned between occupancies. Because of the age and construction of the home, it will not accommodate modern central air conditioning, however we are very thorough and check the filters and clean each window unit as needed between guests. Thank you for bringing the door issues and mildew to our attention we will make sure to address those. In regards to your plumbing concerns, most properties in this area do not have access to city sewer and have to maintain there own septic, which requires a little TLC. Regarding the Wifi & cell service, this is the Hill Country and we do not have city Wifi. However they are working on adding Fiber to this area and we will be upgrading our Wifi as soon as it is available. We are sorry it was not to your satisfaction, our guests typically enjoy the country charm and décor of our cabins. If you are desiring more modern accommodations there are a few in the area to choose from. We hope upon your next visit to our area you will find accommodations more to your liking. Have a blessed day!

Excellent location
We had a family stay at whiskey mountain inn. All together there were 15 people who stayed including toddlers, adults, my grandma and 6 dogs. The house accommodated us all very comfortably. There was plenty of room for everyone. The location was excellent! We were so close to the river and to garner state park. We definitely enjoyed our stay. From visiting the rivers and tubing to making s’mores in the backyard, everything was very enjoyable. This house has a huge front patio where everyone can sit and relax and also a cute patio in the back where we would play games and hangout and look at the stars. The kitchen is huge! Plenty of space for everyone to cook and eat. However, there are many signs all around the house that let you know you will be charged if something is damaged. Although it is good to know these things, it makes you feel a little worried the entire trip that you’ll get charged for something in the end. Overall though, it was a very fun and pleasant stay.

Disappointed. Not worth it.
Overall our stay at Whiskey Mountain Inn was pretty good. The value for what we paid was not competitive. I did not feel the love or welcome ness from the host, but rather an over lurking sense that the host wanted me to screw up so I could be charged more money. The property has a mishap mash of decor that was confusing and seemed to be compiled of left overseas, hand me downs, and/or garage sale thrift finds. Example the old pots, pans, and kitchen utensils, the dining table, the couch in the living room, the high bed...etc. There were a couple of major issues. 1) Cleanliness. Especially of kitchen, remarkably the stove, pans, and utensils. The upstairs bathroom shower. If I'm going to spend this much, I expect a clean place. 2) Bathrooms. Unable to flush toilet paper. With 8 guests in our party, we were fearful of plumbing issues since warning signs that the septic system cannot handle top flush indicated old pipes and faulty system which we could be charged for. 3) Warning signs of being charged all over property. $500 if we didn't cIean, $200 or more if septic problems, etc... I was so fearful of what my final bill would be and worried the whole trip. 4) Breakables all over property. Especially in kitchen. Kitchen hutch and bakers racks were covered in breakable dishes, decorations, glass jars, etc. I was so worried something would get broken and we would be charged. Filled storage spaces and did not leave room for the supplies we thought we were going to need based on the listing. The listing made it sound like hardly anything would be available so we packed way more than we needed to bring. Host might consider taking out breakables and replacing with paper/plastic goods as we had no Tupperware/storage containers. 5) All air conditioning is through window units. House has a musty smell. Upstairs bathroom was especially hot and uncomfortable. There is mold growing due to the humidity in the room. 6) Store on property was only open one day during trip for a few hours. It would have been nice to access more. 7) WiFi was horrible. 8) If you are a Verizon cell phone user, you will have no cell phone service for about a 30 - 40 mile radius of this property and you will not be able to rely on the WiFi at the property. I was disappointed. We definitely overpaid. The friends who stayed with us were astounded by the rent and showed me much cheaper options available on waterfront. We will be smarter next time and will not be staying there again.

When my husband and I purchased these cabins a few years ago we wanted to provide a unique experience in this area with a rustic appeal, the house has it's own unique character since it was built in the 1800's. In regards to your plumbing concerns, most properties in this area do not have access to city sewer and have to maintain there own septic, which requires a little TLC. It is typical in the Hill Country area for most cabins to have the bare minimum. We are unique in the area in that we have fully stocked kitchens, which include coffee, sugar, filters, salt & pepper, paper towels, dish soap & kitchen towels. We also supply hand soap, a trash bag and a roll of toilet paper to make it as convenient for our guests as possible. When sending our guest their check in information we list all of these items and try to be as informative as we can. In regards to the cleanliness, thank you for bringing that to our attention, we will look into it and go over your concerns with our cleaners. The house was built in the 1800's, therefore the bathrooms are small and the downstairs bathroom would not accommodate a shower comfortably. We chose to keep the clawfoot bathtub because of it's rustic appeal. The bathroom appliances are rustic in appearance, but are well cleaned between occupancies. Thank you for bringing the door issues and mildew to our attention we will make sure to address those. In regards to your plumbing concerns, most properties here are country septic tanks which require TLC. The store stocks mostly essentials, since most of our guests are enjoying the river and other activities during the day we typically have someone available every morning until around 11am or noon daily and occasionally in the evenings from around 5pm to 6:30 or 7pm. As for the Wifi & cell service this is the Hill Country and we do not have city Wifi. However they are working on adding Fiber to this area and we will be upgrading our Wifi as soon as it is available. We are sorry and it was not to your satisfaction. Great location
Great spot near Garner State Park and Lost Maples. Nearby town in case you need anything. Our only issue was the water would get extremely hot even when only the cold faucet was turned. Turned out to not be too big of a deal but in summer heat this could of been a bigger problem. Other than that it was a great stay and would recommend!

Nice getaway
We really enjoyed our stay at Whiskey Mountain! Watching hummingbirds from the porch in the mornings, making s’mores in the fire pit at night, and being able to do it with the entire family (17 people) under one roof made for great memories! Only very small issue was that there is only 1 shower. But overall a great stay! Thanks!

Family Getaway
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there on the property. It was such a cozy home with plenty of space for all of us. We especially enjoyed the outside areas to just sit, talk and relax. The only things I would recommend would be to focus on the cleanliness of the kitchen and bathroom areas. We would definitely love to come back and I would recommend anyone to stay there. Thank you for your hospitality.

Loved it!!!
We enjoyed our stay! I must say this home was perfect for our big family. Everyone enjoyed the front and backyards. From making s’mores in the back pit to sitting in the front yard on the rocking chairs and the tree swings. Only thing I would suggest is for the owner to install a second full shower in the restroom downstairs. Other than that we enjoyed this cozy home. The river was less than a 15 minute drive away.

It is typical in the Hill Country area for most cabins to have the bare minimum. When my husband and I purchased these cabins a couple of years ago we wanted to provide a unique experience in this area with a clean & rustic decorative interior and adequate supplies for our guest's Hill Country camping experience. We have very good cleaners & most of our reviews say we are very clean. We are unique in the area in that we have fully stocked kitchens, which include coffee, sugar, filters, salt & pepper, a paper towel roll, dish soap & kitchen towels. We also supply hand soap, a trash bag and a toilet roll to make it as convenient for our guests as possible. But I will look into the cooking pans and I will replace if we need to. We have a layout showing the 1st and 2nd Floor that shows the beds and bathrooms. We cannot change the layout, but can only provide all the information we can to help you make a decision that is best for your needs. We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay and it was not to your satisfaction. We hope your next visit to our area you will find more adequate accommodations. Have a blessed day!

Great couples weekend trip
House was great, very roomy for the 3 couples but wanted our own rooms so that worked out well! 1 downstairs with a door and 2 upstairs with a door. Appreciated all the window units being turned on before we got there. WiFi and service is little to none...so trust what the listing says! Overall great stay and location for couples and would easily work for families!

Whiskey Review
Whiskey Cabin was absolutely darling. We were a party of 5, and the house could sleep SO much more! Backyard was like an oasis. The front porch was fabulous in the morning for sunrise and evening sunsets. The adult swing was by far the most fun had by all. Very peaceful place to relax after a long day on the river. The location is fabulous. You are 3 miles from all the major parks, stores and tubing areas. We look forward to another stay at Whiskey Cabin.

Whiskey Mountain Holiday
Our stay at the Whiskey Mountain cabin over Christmas 2018 was everything we had hoped for. The house was large enough to handle the multiple family members who came and went. Aside from a brief plumbing incident, our entire 8 days was excellent. The house is in good shape, and the property is beautiful. The owners were very responsive. We hope to do this again in the future.

Lovely historic home
Our family stayed at Whiskey Mt.over the July 4th holidays. Lovely home with everything we needed. We were looking for a spot that would sleep 15-17 . Overall it worked well. There are a/c window units in each bedroom , kitchen , and living room. The bathrooms do get a bit hot in the summer during the day but it was not a big deal. Porches were wonderful in the late summer evenings, we could see fireworks around the area from the fire pit area. Really spectacular. We also chose this location because we were really close to Garner state park and the Frio River. While Garner is a great park it is really crowded in summer, so we only went one day , you have to go before 8 a.m. and get in a long line ( 1 1/2 hour) to get in for the day. They close the gates when all parking is full. We actually enjoyed the Frio river more. Very clean and natural. The Happy Hallow was suggested by owners for floating and it was great. You can shuttle your self or use theirs. This was a great spot for the Frio floating. Owners were helpful and easy going. If we had been right on the river it would have been perfect, but it was just a short drive.

Had an AMAZING time here!
As soon as we walked in the door everyone had big smiles. The cabin was as awesome as the pictures. So beautiful and homey, we settled in comfortably! I like the fact they put so many signs and instructions to keep us from being charged extra fees, if you just follow the book you should be fine. Only, ONLY COMPLAINT was the no flushing tp down the toiled but not too big a problem. The backyard was a great place for everyone to play games and eat, We spent most our time at the cabin back there. Overall AMAZING FUN CABIN!

Quaint historic country living near the Frio
Whiskey River Inn is an amazing historic home located on several acres for exploring pleasure and in close proximity to the river and Garner State Park. Their are ample beds in each room to accommodate more than one family. The kitchen has equal sitting and dining areas and even more space outside to enjoy the scenry including a fire pit for making smores! Our little ones loved the swing and the large yard out front was perfect for our Easter egg hunt!
