“What a find this place was. We needed somewhere to stay and shelter from Storm Dave rather than risk the campervan. We were lucky enough to find the family room at the String of Horses. Amazing food in the pub, amazing and super friendly staff, especially the lady who sorted out brownie pieces for my ten year old rather than the Sundae dessert version. The breakfast in the morning, ordered from a menu rather than buffet was delicious with great options. Added bonus was how close the……

“We stayed in a 1-bedroom cottage. The space was really nice and the bed was very comfortable. However the sofa bed was very small (only just big enough for 2 young kids) and very uncomfortable. And the room really needed a deep clean, all the corners were dusty and the carpet had hair in it. Plenty of parking, nice breakfast and helpful staff. We probably would stay again depending on the price, just manage our expectations. We enjoyed Gretna village, for families the playpark was just a short……

“Two nights touring with friends to explore part of the area. Worked well as a centre and the chalet rooms were comfortable and well equipped. Meals were good and all the staff were helpful and both efficient and friendly”

“Had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Horse & Farrier. Room was excellent with great facilities , Comfy bed , iron and ironing board , hairdryer and lovely big shower. full size fridge and wine glasses and a sink complete with fairy liquid, great if wanting to eat in as there was also knives and forks in a drawer. We had a meal on the second night which was really good. The staff were amazing ,really friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. There is a bus stop directly outside and buses……

“We stayed for 2 nights and had our dog with us we had a lovely room with doors that opened onto a small patio and garden which was ideal for us. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent, nicely presented and tasted lovely. I would definitely stay there again.”
