Casa Baino is a stunning top-floor apartment offering breathtaking panoramic views. Nestled within the historic walls of Lucca, this enchanting residence is part of an antique palace dating back to 1470. Once the home of Paolo Guinigi, the Lord and ruler of Lucca, and his wife, Ilaria del Carretto, whose beauty is immortalized in a world-renowned sculpture by Master Jacopo della Quercia, showcased in Lucca's Cathedral and on many high-school and university art books.



Located along Via Guinigi, Casa Baino boasts an enviable position directly opposite the iconic Guinigi Tower, famous for its ancient oak trees on top. This landmark is a symbol of Lucca's medieval charm and is just a step away from your doorstep.



Perched on the 4th floor, the apartment is bathed in natural light, with windows offering spectacular views of Lucca's picturesque rooftops. Inside, you will find a welcoming entrance, a spacious living room, a fully equipped kitchen, a separate dining room, two double bedrooms, and a modern bathroom with a built-in shower.



Stay connected with WiFi throughout the apartment and enjoy a wide range of International Satellite TV channels. The kitchen is equipped with all the essentials, including a washing machine, freezer, refrigerator, five-ring stove, toaster, kettle, oven, and coffee maker.



For your convenience, late check-ins up to midnight are available for a small surcharge of 50 euros, payable in cash upon arrival. Arrivals after midnight are accommodated for 100 euros.

The rental property is located within the ZTL area (Limited Traffic Area, accessible only by permanent residents and people with special permission) and does not offer on-site parking.



The closest Parking Mazzini is located in a walking distance from the rental property, so leaving the car there prior reaching the apartment is essential. By following the road signs you will be able to avoid the ZTL area while driving to the parking.

The apartment was very clean, incredibly comfortable, spacious and an excellent location, beautiful views from the fourth floor. The floor plan was like a small home, great natural light and airy. Would definitely stay there again.

Great location, lovely apartment

This apartment is just steps away from the local Conad supermarket and lots of great shops and restaurants. It’s also centrally located and it’s easy to get to the train or bus station by foot, but I recommend using a taxi if you have luggage (rather than pull it over the paving stones). It’s very close to Torre Guinigi, which can be seen out of the bedroom window! The closest city entry is Porta Elisa. The building has an elevator which is handy as the apartment in on the 4rth floor. However, it is necessary to walk up one floor as the elevator only goes to the 3rd floor. The apartment itself is quite pretty and spacious, with a great kitchen. Lots of windows. The appliances worked very well. The second bedroom lacks a closet or wardrobe to hang clothes but there is lots of drawer space and a rack with hangers behind the door. The beds were very comfortable and warm, with lots of blankets or duvets for chilly nights. A real plus is that the clothes washer combines with a clothes drier and it really works! The only drawback is that there is but one bathroom and it is at the opposite end of the apartment from the bedrooms. This is not unusual in older Italian apartments, however. Overall, we really enjoyed our 3 weeks in this lovely accommodation.

The apartment was in the centre of Lucca perfect to walk to all locations close to main street 4th floor allowed a great view over city Only discrepancy was it states there is a lift. There is a lift but you still have 2 flights of stairs to get to the apartment. We had a great stay and we would recommend it

Casa Baino a little disappointed, not quite as expected.

We booked this apartment very early last fall and were completely excited for our stay as it looked bright, sunny and beautiful and had all the amenities we were looking for. 1. Air conditioning, 2. elevator, and 3. Wi-Fi. We were travelling a few other places but this was our home base. The initial booking and other email correspondence was good; however, I was a bit surprised that in a 2nd last email I was told the address of the apartment would be given soon. I thought the address on the listing was the address, turned out it was not. Would have been good to know. When we arrived, we did not have clear directions to the apartment and when we called our host did not answer, we then called another number for directions. This is not easy if you do not know Lucca. We were told to take a cab. Well that would have taken us just inside the walls and not to the apartment. We began our walk and asked a few people along the way if they knew the address, most did not and finally one kind person drew us a map and we found it! Mrs. Sonia was there, appeared to about to leave as she was busy. She quickly took us up in the elevator 3 floors and had to climb the last floor. This is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. We were given a very quick tour and found NO air conditioning, which we were sure there was in the listing when we booked. We were told with the heatwave air conditioners were breaking down in other apartments but we had fans. We sure did, old extremely dirty and noisy. Then while looking in a drawer we saw the guide for an air conditioner, wonder where it went because it was not in apartment. The most important thing to our host was how we handled the trash and what to do with it, which days to put it out, and where. She showed us the house binder about Lucca and all it has to offer, this was very good but a little guidance from Mrs. Sonia would have been well received. Not all is bad, the apartment is well appointed, beds were ok; but pillows were horrible. The bathroom is typical with small shower stall and hand held head which if you leave up gets water on the floor, if you take it down, its awkward. The apartment was clean and all dishes, pots & pan amenities provided. Pretty decent shape except the kettle had a rusted out hole so one had to boil water in a pot. No big deal just could be replaced. Overall, if you do not want to spend a lot of time in apartment its ok but it is dark and not nearly as bright as photos.

Excellent stay! Great location that is walkable from the bus and train station. Our host was very gracious and brought us a local cake to try one morning. Perfect size for 4 people. The location is really great, steps away from the Anfiteatro and close to grocery stores and all amenities. The apartment is well laid out, making good use of the space and interiors are very charming. You will not forget your private view over Lucca from each single window. Excellent kitchen and wifi was reliable. Mrs Sonia was a perfect host. We'll be back

This property has been a standout for us. Absolutely beautiful view and spacious apartment. Fully equipped in the old town, within walking distance from station if you walk towards the main entrance for car traffic it's easier to cross into the old town without pulling suitcases up and down too many steps alternatively taxis are at the station. The apartment is very clean and secure there is a lift with a dozen or so steps left to walk up . No air-conditioning but we already knew that so keep that in mind if you are there in the middle of summer. Overall this really is great value and Lucca is absolutely fabulous.

A well-appointed apartment close to everything in Lucca

This is lovely, modern apartment in a historic building within the walls of Lucca. Although the apartment is on the 4th floor, there is a good size elevator available. The location could not be better. It is a short walk to the Amphitheater section and to the Via Fillungo, the heart of the city. Restaurants are located everywhere, the train station is less than a 15 minutes walk away, the Amphitheater and the center of town less than a 10 minute away. The owner met at the apartment and explained everything to us. Importantly, there was a wonderful binder in the apartment loaded with useful information, everything from when to discard the different types of garbage to where to find someone to come in and cook a meal for you. We can't recommend too much a stay in this truly great city in this lovely apartment.

The flat is well located and nicely appointed. We got off to a bit of a rough start with no toilet paper, soap or welcome information which may have disappeared with the previous guest. The owner did eventually apologize although we would have appreciated a warmer welcome. This host has many apartments in Lucca and along with that can come a lack of personal touch. The flat does have beautiful views and is quite comfortable so it has many redeeming qualities.

Highly Recommended

Lovely fully equipped apartment with vistas over Lucca and beyond from every window. We really enjoyed our 9 day stay, very handy to return from sightseeing for lunch or just a cuppa. Lift goes to the 3rd floor and then 2 easy stair flights to the apartment door. Mrs Sonia was most helpful and we were able to access the apartment ahead of schedule which we greatly appreciated after a direct flight from Australia. We were able to find free parking for our hire car just outside the city walls near to where the market is held but spaces are fairly competitive.

Lucca is a walking experience. We found the location of our apartment to be perfect for our daily forays into the the lovely winding streets of the town. Anything you might want, breakfast, cappuccino, wine or a good meal was just a few steps from the front door. The apartment itself is nicely furnished and being able to open the windows for lovely fresh air was a bonus. Be sure to bring a variety of electrical current converters, the ones in the apartment are two prong. The top floor location makes for some great local views and the building itself is quiet at all times of the day. If we return to Lucca we'll look forward to returning to this location.

Lovely Lucca, Lovely Home Away!

My husband and I had visited other places in Tuscany, but not the charming town of Lucca. We read about it online and saw this apartment, and it's excellent reviews, and suddenly our trip plan gelled perfectly. We arrived by car, on a rainy day, and despite having a Euro GPS, we had trouble finding the parking garage. So it took a bit of time to get settled into our home for the next 9 nights. In hindsight, I needed to have done a bit more research on how the town is laid out, using google maps. But once we got checked in by Mrs. Sonia, any arrival stress from the parking issue gradually gave way to our discovery of all of the sensory delights that Lucca held in store for us! We unpacked and set out to eat the food of Lucca, which is not only exquisite Tuscan cuisine, but offered in many variations, by many styles of eateries, in seemingly boundless abundance. It didn't take long to learn the town. All the walking, whether making right or wrong turns, helped us burn the burgeoning caloric intake, as well as suddenly reveal thrilling sights, like Piazza San Michelle, with it's stunning facade and amazing statuary on top -- quite a fitting architectural emblem, and a 'crowing' of this jewel of a city. Our plan had been to make day trips from Lucca with the car. We made only one -- because, as we spent time wandering Lucca's enchanting lanes, I realized I had no desire to go anywhere else! All the food, the beautiful shops, bar/cafes, and friendly locals, became the entire focus of our visit. We tried two of the recommended "ristorantes" on Mrs. Sonia's list, along with other style eateries, and all will be memorable to us forever. There was a small "Osteria," where we had the most delicious lunch, in their still verdant garden, in perfectly sublime September weather. It was not only the pleasantness of the smooth wine --- we found the whole town to be intoxicating! One memory stands out: we were treated to samples of sweet cakes and breads from a bakery shop, just around the corner. The baker himself, kept giving us free bites. His passion for his culinary art, and for sharing it with us was fabulous fun! The apartment is safe, comfortable, spacious, and quiet. The kitchen is well stocked; we left tea and jam for the next guest. Many thanks to Mrs. Sonia for helping us to create beautiful Tuscan experience and memories in her beautiful city of Lucca.

The appartment was large and very nice, filled with everything you need, also in the kitchen. A lot of nice books to look at, and everything carefully made to a match in beautiful colours. Wonderful views from the windows. Do note that the elevator stops on the 3rd.floor!!! Not many steps, but they are of the high-step kind. The bathroom was not out favourite, but I am shure it would feel much nicer with sunshine coming in through the window. (Unforntunately we did not get that). Very nice location. We would love to rent from Sonia again. And Lucca is an absolutely favourite alle year long!

Fabulous location, but apartment needs to include some basics for short-term rental

Mrs. Sonia's apartment was in a fabulous location within the walls of Lucca. The apartment was beautiful and spacious. The view of the city and surrounding mountains was breathtaking. Mrs. Sonia was waiting for us when we arrived from the train station. She explained the use of the apartment thoroughly, including not using multiple appliances at one time and recycling rules. We quickly discovered that the rental did not include hand soap or sufficient toilet paper for our four night stay. The kitchen contained no glasses, although there were cups. On the second day of our rental the internet ceased to work. We contacted Mrs. Sonia who gave us suggestions on how to reset it; but those did not work. It turned out the problem was with the phone. She contacted the phone company who promised to fix it that evening--but it was not fixed and we were unable to access the internet for the remainder of our visit--causing us to go over our phone data allowance. It was unfortunate for us that the internet was not functioning during our stay. I recommend this apartment for its location. the beautiful view, and Mrs. Sonia's responsiveness--but recommend that the owners provide a bit more of the necessary basics.
