Great location Great time

Amazing house on the Shenandoah River

We were delayed one day due to the river flooding the low water bridge into the neighborhood but the hosts were great about giving info and keeping us updated throughout. Once we were able to access the property the wait for well worth it, Wow, what a cool house right on the river! There were no amenities that weren't at the house, the Shaffer's are a great host and have a beautiful house in a picturesque location. We cannot thank you enough for a great stay, despite mother nature not playing along! Definitely recommend this house if you're looking for great hosts and a great place to stay.

Great cabin on the river

We loved the remote location. It was a few hours into DC but still doable for a day trip. The hosts were readily available when there was a flash flood in a neighboring town. Well stocked cabin with lots of river equipment.

Beautiful Location & Home

Our family of 7 had a great 4 night stay here. The location is so nice with mountain views. The river was great, my husband caught his 1st fish fly-fishing. The house is set up nicely and comfortably. Plenty of beds & 3 bathrooms. Would definitely recommend.

Great Cabin

This is a beautiful cabin. It is well stocked with everything you need to have a stress free stay. It is very clean. We loved our time. We took our fur babies, which is wonderful that this host allows. The back porch is opened, but is gated in at the bottom so our dogs could enjoy the outside and not have to be leashed. My husband enjoyed fishing, had to walk the river to find good fishing holes, and caught a nice one. I could go on and on, you just have try this cabin.

Shenandoah Dream

Utterly amazing experience. #1 it was very clean #2 fully stocked with every necessity # 3 the most responsive hosts ever. As promised it was barrier free and made the wheelchair bound guest relax and enjoy being on the river. You can book this property with complete peace-of-mind. Highest recommendation.

We had an amazing time. If you stay here, make sure you visit the Shaffer's BBQ joint about twenty mins away, you won't regret it. Awesome place, awesome people.

R&R with family

Plenty of room for everybody. Enjoyed the fire pit and chairs. Peaceful and quiet. Easy river access and nice view.

Amazing cabin! Amazing River!

Rambling older cabin (in a good way!!) that was just so much fun. comfortable, homey, with absolutely everything we needed-seriously this home included more amenities than any other VRBO we've stayed in. Ample towels, ample toilet paper, ample detergent... tubes, inflator, blankets, firewood.. just wonderful. We put in a grocery order at the walmart in Woodstock and picked it up on our way in. We didn't need to leave again. The owner is very caring and easy to communicate with, the neighborhood is lovely, the river is AMAZING. We travel with VRBO several times a year and this home is right at the top.

Fantastic Family Getaway

Great place!

Comfy home. Enjoyed our stay. My dog had a great time as well. Caught 13 fish in 1//2 day 2 bluegill and 10 smallmouth.. lots of rooms for our geounp of 7+

Family vacation 2022

Family vacation with 9 people ages 73 to 5. We all had a great time with plenty of space and entertainment for everyone. The owners were great and quick to respond.

Nice setting. Needs a bit of updating.

The setting of this home has an attractive, spacious backyard down to the river, which is a great place for kids to play and families to gather. It is quiet and rural. Deer, bunnies and birds abound. The decor and furnishings inside seem tired and worn rather than quaint. Stained carpeting. Broken chairs on porches and fire pit area. We’ve stayed in a lot of VRBO homes. For the price, we were expecting something nicer.

Weekend getaway

Had weekend getaway with group of friends & family. Has plenty of space and beds for everyone. Outside area was large and plenty of space to play outside. Everything was fine, however we could not find towels until we looked around to the basement laundry room and it was in side the dryer. Fridge was filled with things from previous guests. Could not find trash bags.

Great Place to Relax and Play

Everything about this cabin and the property was perfect. I took a group of teachers on a well-deserved weekend getaway and training retreat, and they got the relaxation they needed. The cabin was exactly as promised and the property was even better than I had expected. I didn't realize when I booked it that we were only steps away from the river's edge and it made it all the more enjoyable. Sitting on the back porch, listening to the sound of the river flow by was just was we needed to set the tone for what turned out to be an exceptional weekend. Thanks for this property. I hope we can stay here again sometime.

Beautiful Cabin! Amazing weekend.

The cabin was absolutely amazing. We had a great time with family and friends. Everything we needed was there. The first cabin we ever been to that even had extra toiletries. The rooms were all comfortable. We had an amazing time at the river and at the fire pit. Would love to come again.

Great family getaway!

Charming river cabin with all amenities available made for no-stress packing and functionality during our stay. Would encourage bringing box fans for anyone in the upstairs rooms (which we brought) to help circulate the air from the A/C unit. Love that the cabin is pet friendly (with no ill effects/signs from being so) - our dogs had a blast. Enjoyed a great float on the house-provided tubes from the low water bridge to the cabin (2min car ride, 1.5hr float). Great space for all 5 of us plus 2 dogs snd 2 visitors for 2 nights. Our 3 teenagers claimed the basement beds and it was perfect! House Wi fi worked great. Cell service not so great, for some users, but others didn’t have issues. Wed come back. Had a great time!

The property was as shown in the pictures. Plenty of sleeping places. The couches were quite comfortable for sleeping also :) Plenty of nice bedding and towels were provided. We could find no DVD so were left with just a few channels to watch. Kitchen has what was needed to cook meals. There were plenty of tubes for floating; unfortunately the river was low and not conducive to floating. We did, however, spend quite a few hours just sitting down by the river. If you're looking for a place to disconnect from the world, you will definitely find it here. Not too far from any towns making it easy to find things to do locally.

The perfect riverside getaway

This cabin was perfect for our family to escape the DC area for a weekend. All we had to bring was clothes and food - everything else was provided for. The house is huge and has so many things to do for kids including fooseball, airhocky, tubing, a huge yard leading down to the river, and beautiful fire pit. We had the best time and would definitely come back again. One tip - cell phone service is not very reliable, so be sure to screenshot the doorcode before getting there! The owner Julie is super responsive and accomodating - she even found us a babysitter in the area!!

Great location to enjoy the outdoors and the river.

Communication with owners was superior and they were extremely responsive to any concern that we had. House can accommodate a large group. Plentiful ways to enjoy the river and the outdoors are available, including views from the kitchen, two porches and two picnic tables. Fire pit with several Adirondack chairs is fun for s'mores and hanging out at night. The lawn is vast and great for catches and night-time stargazing. Several tubes are available for use and put-in location is a short drive or walk from the house. The other side of this coin is that it is a 15 minute (very scenic) drive to the main road and about an hour to Shenandoah National Park. Outdoor grilling is easy. More specific directions for how to use the television and other electrical things would have been helpful, as would a teapot and oven mitts. Air conditioning is a bit uneven. Oven and refrigerator could use a cleaning. We did not use the indoor fireplace, though this is likely very nice in winter. A beautiful part of the country; ice cream and strolling around Woodstock is a treat, as is exploring Strasburg and Front Royal.

Great place

Nice homey cabin with a/c and full kitchen. Hostess very accommodating and helpful. Quick to respond to all my questions. You will have neighbors on both sides and they were occupied while we were there. Cabins are spaced far enough apart that it wasn’t an issue.We had a great time!
