New World Makati Hotel

8/10 Good

"The staff continues to be the hotel’s biggest asset. There are many new faces but everyone is generally very pleasant and accommodating: Security, Doormen, Concierge, Front Desk. A special thank you to Abbey, Hazel and the others who staff the Club Level Reception area. I also wanted to recognize Wilson, Babylyn and the others who took exceptional care of me at Breakfast and Cocktail hour. Their commitment to their guests is outstanding! My room attendants: Jomel and Raymond are definite assets to New World and their work ethic is outstanding! My biggest gripes remain the same: NW is in dire need of renovation, remodel and repair. The staff can only do so much. There are way too many things to mention: inoperable elevators, creaky room floors, hot water issues and many noticeable cosmetic problems: chipped paint, loose faucets, stains…the list is endless! The hotel is old and it shows. New owners need to address this sooner than later although I know it will take time and money. I also notice how management is skimping on things: no newspapers in Club Lounge for guests to use (not keep); menu offerings that have been impacted. The food and choices were outstanding: now they are simply poor and often not delicious! Why offer choices that are lousy: tasteless, dry and just CHEAP! All businesses must find ways to reduce costs but you can offer less selection but ensure they are good! I think the Executive Chef is terrible needs to be replaced. His food at cocktail hour is junk!"

"Discovery Primea Makati — 6 stars out of 5, if I could! No matter how hard I try to find something to improve, I simply can't. This hotel is exceptional in every way. From the moment you arrive, the staff make you feel like a VIP at every single interaction. The attention to detail is on another level — they think of everything. One evening we went out for dinner, and when we returned, we found they had already come to prepare our room for the night: turndown service done perfectly, a bottle of water placed on each bedside table, and the bed opened and ready for us to slide right in. The location couldn't be more convenient, and the property itself is beautifully maintained and spotlessly clean. Breakfast is delicious with a great variety, served by the same warm, friendly staff. Having stayed in hotels across 17 countries, I can honestly say this is a truly world-class experience — not just in the Philippines, but anywhere. Highly, highly recommended."

"Perfect stay! Pre-arrival communication was prompt. They arranged for our airport transfer after our 20 hour trip, it was seamless. The suite was spacious for our family of 5. Location is ideal for shopping, food and activities. You barely have to step outside in the hot and/or rainy weather as the property is within the Glorietta malls, that also connects to Greenbelt mall. In-room washer & dryer was great. At the beginning of our vacation we stayed at Ascott Makati for a few days then after island hopping for a few days we checked in at Ascott BGC (also a stellar property). The two Ascotts coordinated transferring all the luggage that we did not need for our island trips, from Makati to Ascott BGC for storage until we returned. This was very helpful. Ascott is truly a home away from home. A special thanks to their staff for being professional and courteous."
