LOCATION:
This peaceful mountaintop retreat is tucked into rural Southwest Virginia.
Expect 25–40 minutes to most grocery stores and restaurants, but that’s part of the charm.
Nearby destinations include:
New River State Park – 15–20 minutes
Galax – about 30 minutes
Hillsville – about 35 minutes
Wytheville – about 40 minutes
Spend the day hiking, kayaking, antiquing, or exploring small towns - then return to your quiet mountain hideaway for sunset.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: AWD/4WD required for the steep gravel drive (2WD cars won’t make it). Parking is available at the bottom if needed - it’s a long walk up with luggage and not highly recommended although doable.
The cabin has central heat and A/C. Upstairs will get warm on hot days or cool during evenings but fans will circulate the air and there are space heaters if it gets chilly upstairs.
The cabin is made up with towels, bed linens, soaps, starter K-cups of coffee, basic spices, and paper goods- just bring your essentials and settle in. Bring along some firewood and charcoal if you wish to use those amenities.
OUTDOOR CAMERA: There is an outdoor camera facing the outside staircase/entrance. It is on 24/7 and can record video and sound.

Was the perfect get away if you want privacy...totally secluded! Check in process was simple, owner was great to communicate with and very responsive. We immensely enjoyed our stay! Facilites were kept up and kitchen stocked for all we needed. Will definitely be booking here again!
This cabin was beautiful. We were planning to visit a winery on our second day but it was so pleasant to spent time in the cabin we didn't end up going. It's quiet, away from people and with amazing views. The king bed was very comfortable.
The only note I'd have is that you HAVE TO have a 4 wheel drive. We drove our SUV there and there is no way our other car would've made it. It's very steep and full gravel. Any kind of moisture would make a 2 wheel car stuck. This is mentioned in the listing as highly recommended but I think is a must.
once we ascended the mountain top the view was amazing the cabin very nice and spacious overall i would recommend this hide away

My wife and I loved this place! Because of the isolated location it was very peaceful and the view from the deck was fantastic. It could not have been any better.
We had the most relaxing little getaway! The cabin was clean, comfortable and well provisioned. We enjoyed the porch the most for morning coffee and evening wine. The view was spectacular and it was so quiet and peaceful! We will definitely be booking again.
A friend and I stayed at this cabin 3 nights to do some walleye fishing on the New River. It was a little hard to find, but that is the only negative about this place. It was beautiful, clean, comfortable and inviting. Could not have envisioned a better stay for our trip.
Cabin was exactly as described, and a perfect remote hideaway to relax for a few days. Very much enjoyed sitting out on the deck and watching the sunrise and sunset. Clean, well stocked with items we needed for cooking and grateful to be able to bring our dogs where they enjoyed roaming around the property.
The cabin is impeccably clean and very nicely decorated. The wrap around porch is an ideal place to relax. Views from two sides are really gorgeous.
It is definitely a treasure in Max Meadows. If we're in the area again, I hope to stay there.
We loved the cabin! We rented it to stay for a few days for a mini getaway for my cousins wedding in Woodlawn. It was perfect and so peaceful! Owners are great, and everything was very easy! Our toddler loved the driving through “the forest” to the cabin.
My fiancé and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Easy Plateau. The cabin itself is very clean and well kept, but the views were just stunning. We had a wonderful time and hope to return someday in the near future.
This property is beautifully secluded with wonderful views and all the comforts of home. Our host, Alison is top notch and kept us informed in the aftermath of Helene. We will be back!
A great piece of property with views for days. Had all the amenities we needed. Will definitely return one day.
Note: we were able to make it up the driveway in a 2WD pickup with a running start, but regular cars or minivans will struggle.
Absolutely worth the climb.
This is an amazing gem hidden in the mountains. The views are spectacular and the location is so private. No neighbors for miles. We ate our body weight in smores, stargazed in the bed of our truck and spent each day relaxing. It was like living in a painting as we took so many pictures of the sunrises and sunsets throughout our stay.
We booked this great little cabin for visiting family in the area.
It is very clean and communication from the host was excellent.
The views are excellent and sunrises are truly spectacular. The advisory about the driveway is not exaggeration, since my truck is 4x4, it was not a n issue.
The only way to get great vistas is by being high up.
The house was a perfect getaway for a few days. The track and driveway were not an issue and the 270 degree views from the property were stunning. The house was very clean and organized, easy access, nice firepit and balcony looking out at the view. We enjoyed every second! Thanks!
We stopped along our way to visit relatives for thanksgiving for a night. All we wanted was a quiet cabin in the mountains where we could enjoy the fire and play with our dogs. This was perfect. No neighbors anywhere near, beautiful views and we loved the outdoor fire pit. The house was very clean and super cute. The owner was very communicative, answered all of my questions, and was able to accommodate a special request. We will definitely book again when we travel this route!
It was amazing. If you are looking for a place with scenic views look no further! Absolutely stunning to walk around the deck and enjoy the blue ridge mountains. However, I would HIGHLY recommend a 4WD. Don’t make the mistake we made and think “oh well, I am a good driver it shouldn’t be an issue”… chances of someone getting up the last few hundred feet with a fully loaded front wheel drive are very slim!!
Anyways, it’s great to disconnect while at the same time you have everything you need from great cell reception to high speed internet. The host is super nice as well!
Overall really good. Needs information on how to operate tv. Check light bulbs overhead front porch. Probably owner wouldn’t catch that unless there at night. Great wildlife. Definitely need all wheel or four wheel drive vehicle. Fortunately never meet oncoming vehicle. Plenty of places to visit in area, definitely Hillsville and Wytheville. Would stay here again.
More comfortable than a hotel and far more charming
Sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference: a curved shower curtain rod, a supply of coffee and creamers, remote controls for the bedroom ceiling fans. Despite how rustic the cabin is, our stay was more comfortable than in most hotels. The unit was sparkling clean upon our arrival, to boot.
The listing is not exaggerating about the driveway. Our F-150 was fine in 4WD but we tried it once in 2WD and would not have made it.
The wraparound porch was a perfect place to spend most of our time, enjoying the view and watching the hawks and occasional deer. There’s a flying squirrel living in the birdhouse by the driveway who watched us in return. :)
10/10 would highly recommend.
