My family (3 adults 1 toddler) and I just returned from a stay at the Courtyard Marriott. It was less than impressive for Marriot's standards.
There were a few things that really irked me:
- Although the Expedia site says valet parking is optional, there is no option for self parking (unless you park on the street). Valet parking is US$26 per day, which feels steep considering it's the only option.
- It might be helpful to also note there is a US$5 charge PER package received (the first two packages are no charge). This is not stated on the listing either.
- There is no safe in the room, however there is a safe deposit box in the lobby at no extra cost (but don't lose the key because that of course comes with a charge).
- US$150 deposit required on check in.
On the pros:
- There is a little bistro in the lobby that serves great coffee (Starbucks)
- The staff were really friendly
- The area is very walkable. There are lots of little cafes and restaurants in the area. Publix is right behind the hotel, which is great for picking up bottled water and essentials.
- Dadeland Mall is right across the street (walkable).
Honestly, if you're comparing other properties in the area, the Hampton Inn is a better option. The price was similar (a little less), no charges for packages, two queen beds (not doubles at Courtyard Marriott), free breakfast / coffee and tea station and free self parking. Plus right across from Target.
