Maple Get-away

Had a great time staying at the cabin at Back Creek. The Maple festival was happening and we had such a great time at events and time to relax by the creek.

Perfect tranquil getaway

Perfect location and super cozy cabin. Ideal for a weekend getaway from the city. Super clean and tidy, great amenities and very friendly hosts. Almost forgot the maple syrup, delicious so be sure to pick some up from their small shop near the cabin!

Great Place.

Just what we needed and just what we expected. Nice little cabin on the stream, very cozy and relaxing. Friendly renters and the maple syrup is amazing make sure to bring extra money to spend in the store!! Been staying in highland my whole life over 40 years and this place really gives you a a taste of the community. We will be back.

Cozy weekend getaway!

We had a lovely time at the cabin! It was the perfect home base for lots of outdoor adventures in the area. The hot tub and woodburning stove were perfect to come back to. It was a very cozy weekend. We'd love to come back!

Relax and enjoy

The cabin is perfect: tastefully furnished, well equipped, easily heatable. The location is picture-perfect: nature at its most beautiful. - We stayed for more than three weeks. And loved it so much that we are thinking about coming back. It‘s a bit far from Switzerland, but worth it.

The cabin was in the perfect location to unwind. I enjoyed the solitude. I loved the way each room in the cabin had its on theme. Building a fire in the evenings made the cabin such a cozy place. I would love to visit again.

Great cabin!

Very nice, well equipped log cabin. Comfortable bed, and loved the creek right by the house. We had a great time. We did the Cass Railroad, ate at High’s Restaurant in Monterey, hiked the Greenbriar River Trail in Cass WV but our favorite was silently hiking a fire road just up the road from the cabin. Here we saw deer and grouse and no people!

Peace, Glorious Peace

Perfect place to unplug. The cabin was lovely and the property beautiful. Val and Pat gave us plenty of privacy. If you are looking for somewhere to hole up and enjoy nature for a few days, I couldn't offer a better place. 10/10. Highly recommend.

Quiet and relaxing

We spent the weekend of Highland County Maple Festival at the Cabin at Back Creek. It was away from the crowds of the festival but just a short 20 minute drive away from the center of the action. The cabin was relaxing, clean, comfortable, and tranquil. We had everything we needed and didn’t feel like we needed to go out for amenities or necessities. The instructions for check in and check out were clear and concise and very easy to follow. We will definitely recommend to others and we will return as well! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful gateaway location

The cabin was nice and cozy, clean, and in a beautiful setting. We planned on doing some cooking so we brought along various condiments and other kitchen supplies, but the cabin was very well equipped with kitchenware, spices, olive oil, etc.. The wood stove was a wonderful feature during the cold days, and there was plenty of firewood provided. The only detractor was that the beds were not particularly comfortable; they should have been given the price; hence the four stars. But we would certainly stay here again at the next opportunity.

Perfect ++++

We loved staying at this cabin, and we loved the remote location. Very quiet. It was very comfortable, the beds and other furniture are in excellent condition, and we slept well. The owners have a sugar shack next door, but they mind their business, and it was fun to visit the sugar shack. Pat and Valerie are very down to earth people, and you can buy maple syrup and other items from their shop. When I head down to this area again, this will be our first choice to stay. PS, be sure to visit Jackson River Bakery and Deli, they have the best sandwiches and some groceries, and are only a couple of miles from the cabin. I wish I would have stopped in on day one.

A slice of heaven

This was our 2nd stay at the Cabin at Back Creek. We absolutely love the cabin and location. Pat & Valerie are down to earth people who truly love to share their cabin and the maple making process with others. Valerie has the cabin stocked in the kitchen very well. Cooking meals there was easy. There are places to take a drive to, like up through Blue Grass or over to Green Bank or Cass, WV. But most of all hanging out at the cabin away from the crazy day to day life is the best. Sit out at night on the side deck and catch the awesome views of the stars (we even counted over 30 satellites on one night). We plan to stay here again in the future. Highland County had so much beauty to take in.
