「This was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had. We arrived, anticipating an attractive and heated pool. We discovered a very dirty, shabby out of date pool that was cold. After much communication with Expedia, the owners of the hotel turned up the temperature on the pool. 「My kids loved being around the animals at the property and waking up to the sounds of cows and horses. We would have loved a tour of the property on one of the tractor trailers included in the stay. The cows and horses were super friendly and calm. The shared kitchen wasn’t the cleanest as it’s shared with some of the station hands. 「We had an awesome stay at Shantara Port Douglas! The quiet, adults-only ambience made it the perfect place to relax, recharge, and unwind. The pools were fantastic—beautifully maintained and ideal for spending lazy afternoons.
The location is spot on, with everything within easy walking distance, making it easy to explore Port Douglas without needing the car. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help, which made our stay even more enjoyable.
