"My kids loved being around the animals at the property and waking up to the sounds of cows and horses. We would have loved a tour of the property on one of the tractor trailers included in the stay. The cows and horses were super friendly and calm. The shared kitchen wasn’t the cleanest as it’s shared with some of the station hands. "everything about this property was lovely. only thing, kids could find the gaming console (not that i minded lol) and the ad made it sound like the pool was just outside but infact its a small stroll down the road. still enjoyed our swim etc but was one of the deciding factors to stay here when we thought the pool was right there. But that's nothing major, everything else was as described and beds were comfy. would recommend :) "

Shantara Resort Port Douglas - Adults Only Retreat

6/10 Okay

"The online advertising presents the property very well - but it lacks the ambiance of the images. Despite this the large studio suite felt a little dated. Kitchen accessories/utensils were very basic and would have appreciated a coffee pod machine. Laundry - washing machine had soap and lint encrusted in the dispenser and detergent was an extra cost. Basement parking was convenient. The salt water pool was good but the gym tread mill was broken and the other equipment was less than basic. Location to shops and beach is very good. Staff were helpful and polite. Overall a positive experience."

"Very well maintained hotel. Staff were great. Swim up bar was cool but very limited alcohol unless you only want cocktails. No JD, no CC no other bourbons. One other thing just be aware there is no microwave in the rooms which is a shame as it is a fair walk to the main shopping district. There is a some restaurants nearby at least. Overall still a nice place just limited in some respects"

"This is an exceptional property. The unit we were assigned was absolutely gorgeous and incredibly spacious. The ocean view was spectacular. We stayed three nights. We would have loved to stay a month. The common areas are beautiful, the staff is wonderful, and the parking garage is very convenient. We are so glad we stayed here. We were in Australia for a month and we stayed in a number of great properties--but this one was the crown jewel of them all. Okay, I have one minor nit: it would be great if the swimming pool were a bit warmer. It is probably perfect in the summer months...but we visited in the fall and for that time of year, the temperature should be a bit warmer. I used the spa pool, and it is lovely, but it was about the temperature the swimming pool should have been. I enjoyed it nevertheless."

"Apartment was very modern, tidy and in a quiet, tranquil area that is close to the beach and Smithfield shops, while being less than 20 mins from the CBD. It was well equipped with a dishwasher, full size fridge and freezer, washing machine and dryer. The complex is secure, had sufficient parking, a good pool and outdoor area, and good views of the nature reserve behind the complex (which had kangaroos and wallabys). Staff were polite and attentive, and there to help when needed. The reception has a cafe and nice sitting area too."
