This hotel gives an ambiance of the old Japan, with Tatami mats, sleeping on the floor, hot spring Onsen, no shoes after check-in desk, you must lock them up at registration and walk in socks everywhere. This hotel is for those who want to experience a “likeness” of old japan. I would not recommend for people with mobility issues, overweight or very tall people. The rooms are small and all the furniture is like for a “Hobbit” lots of crouching and sitting low. The beds, comfy but on the floor so getting up can be challenging if you have bad knees or overweight. The JR Train station is across the street, for those with JR passes you use this train. If not and you use the Kintetsu Limited Express, it is a 14 min walk to the hotel. This station is half the distance to the park and lots of hotels like APA near this station, you may want to stay near the Kintetsu line. However, If you exit out the correct exit??, you can walk through the shopping-eateries street to get to the Onyando hotel. The hotel is a direct line to Nara Park and Temples, about 15-20 minutes.
