Stayed here for one night and it was a great experience. From the moment you walk in, you can sense the traditional Japanese atmosphere. No shoes are allowed inside but there are lots of lockers available for shoes. Staff clean your luggage as you check in. Room felt very authentic however the pillows were definitely uncomfortable (too low and only one each!). Basic bathroom with a shower, no bath. No curtains in the room so lots of light in the morning. The main attraction for this hotel is probably the onsen. It was a great experience! I have small tattoos but the staff were kind and gave me their own tattoo cover stickers which worked great and allowed me to enter the onsen. Didn’t get a chance to try the food but was a good experience overall. Great location to Nara station and short walks to main attractions.

The onsen was fantastic, the breakfast great, the room was stylish and well organized. This is the best hotel i have ever stayed in. The 930 pm ramen was perfect. After staying in the onsen in the afternoon, that was all i wanted. Wearing the yukata everehere gave the large hotel a warm feeling. Staff was very professional.

Staff was great! The onsen hotel very nice with private options was awesome. Nara park is about 18 mins waking. The downside is that is very far from osaka main train station. So it is a long drive or even long train ride.

Wonderful hotel. Very convenient. Right across from Nara station (and only about 15 mins walk from Kintetsu station). Also across Starbucks and Tourist information center. Hotel is very clean, everyone takes off their shoes at the lobby, and they provide you with a shoe locker. Walk around the hotel/ rooms with no shoes. Great onsen (indoor and outdoor)/ separate for men and women. Great Japanese breakfast buffet. Very convenient location/ close to everything, walking distance to Nara Park. Highly recommended. Will return.

The Ryokan decore, breakfast buffet, modern rooms and the public bath (a.k.a. Onsen) were the best during our 2 weeks in Japan. Super recommended!

Yes, there might be a language gap with the front desk, but that’s part of the charm. Fabulous value, from the location to the included authentic onsen to the nightly Ramen (sooooo good) to the cool cool rooms. Love it.

This hotel gives an ambiance of the old Japan, with Tatami mats, sleeping on the floor, hot spring Onsen, no shoes after check-in desk, you must lock them up at registration and walk in socks everywhere. This hotel is for those who want to experience a “likeness” of old japan. I would not recommend for people with mobility issues, overweight or very tall people. The rooms are small and all the furniture is like for a “Hobbit” lots of crouching and sitting low. The beds, comfy but on the floor so getting up can be challenging if you have bad knees or overweight. The JR Train station is across the street, for those with JR passes you use this train. If not and you use the Kintetsu Limited Express, it is a 14 min walk to the hotel. This station is half the distance to the park and lots of hotels like APA near this station, you may want to stay near the Kintetsu line. However, If you exit out the correct exit??, you can walk through the shopping-eateries street to get to the Onyando hotel.The hotel is a direct line to Nara Park and Temples, about 15-20 minutes.

Loved the onsen, and the location cannot be beat
I loved having access to the onsen and the complimentary refreshments afterwards. Also, the hotel is right in front of the Nara train station and not far from Nara park. Our queen bed room was so nice as well. Overall, we had a lovely stay.

This hotel is steps away from the train station, but miles away in terms of feel. It’s a resort and spa with free onsen, snacks after your soak, free clothes washer (cheap dryer), massage chairs and more. The location is very convenient to the station and easy walk to the Nara sights. The breakfast buffet was great with lots of Eastern offerings and a few Western ones too. The whole resort is shoeless so be prepared to walk around in your socks or bare feet and check your shoes into a shoe locker at reception. :) We booked a double twin suite that gave us sooo much more room than a traditional room.

We enjoyed our stay here, especially the lovely staff members. The onsen was fantastic and we enjoyed the evening ramen. The rooms are small by western standards but were comfortable and the showers have amazing water pressure. Recommend!

👍 great location- 2 mins from train station and all the restaurants, convenience, stores. 👍 clean and well organized- shoes off the whole building 👍 extra - loved the late ramen , the morning yogurt , treats in the room 👍 The Onsen did not disappoint - 3 pools and a sauna . 👎 Noise from the trains -but it’s very minor . Still sleep thu the night, no problem!

Nice hotel. New. Clean. Not for large or old people. All facilities are sized for smaller people. Over 5’10 will find it too small. We were given tatami style rooms, 3” mattresses. OK for wife and grandaughter, but not for an 85 year old. Had to go to another hotel to find a bed
