We had a wonderful time at the cabin! This is a quiet location perfect for enjoying nature and the beauty of the lake. The cabin was extremely clean, and stocked with everything we needed. Cindy was prompt to reply to communication before and during our stay. Cindy and her husband were so welcoming and friendly and truly just want you to have a great time on your getaway! This was a very dog friendly place, our pup loved swimming off the dock and shore any chance he got! We can’t wait to come back!
We stayed here for 3 nights. We spent most of our time at another resort where my extended family was staying. So we didn't really use everything (lake, firepit, etc). But it was a nice little cabin, very clean. They had pretty much everything you could need. Very pleased!
This is a great place for those looking to enjoy lake life. It is a great value and they allow dogs, which makes it a true gem. The lake has great fishing and wildlife viewing.
We had a great stay at this property. We loved being right on the lake. It was furnished very comfortably & the hosts were quick with responses if we had any questions. It has a good location for visiting towns such as Nevis, Park Rapids , Walker & Itasca State Park.
Easy to set up, very comfortable and clean cabin with a dock to tie a boat to. The owners are very friendly and we're even willing to drive me to and from the boat launch since I was on my own. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Very clean property, just remote.
owners are close by, but give you much privacy. We were able to take our dog and it was a great set up for a small pet. Kayaks were available which was fun!
Super clean, wonderful location, great communication, fishing was amazing. It's off the beaten path which is exactly what we wanted. Wonderful, thank you!
It was quiet and remote, no cell service, which was great. We heard so many loons and had an amazing view of the stars. We were very comfortable (6 people/2 families) and really enjoyed ourselves. We didn’t get to canoe or kayak as much as we wanted because of the wind, but there were a lot of other things to do. I wish we could have stayed a lot longer.
We had a great time at the cabin - weather was a bit rough for us but other than that it was a fun little getaway! It was very nice (soft bed) and it had everything you needed & more! Beautiful outdoor space but bring your bug spray- even though they have some for you! The owners were very nice and helpful explaining where things were & also checked in with us to see how things were going, which I felt was great! We would recommend this to anyone and would love to go back. I think our dog LOVED it more than us and misses the Lake already! Thanks again!!!
This was a beautiful property! Far enough away from everything to be surrounded by nature but a close enough drive to attractions and necessities. There were kayaks that we used a lot and a fire pit to cook hot dogs or s'mores.
There was a stocked kitchen and a large fridge that we were able to fill with food for the week. There were 4 of us, 2 kids and 2 adults, and there was plenty of space for us. It was great to be able to have our dog with us, too!
Brian and Cindy were wonderful hosts, they responded to our questions immediately. We didn't have many, though, because they provided an informational folder for us upon arrival!
Great clean place with thoughtfully selected items from kitchen table, chairs, and very sharp knives and all necessities. Wonderful, comfortable beds, sheets and blankets. Even the door stops were classy. Very comfortable place to stay. Hope to go back again. Loved the faint distance sounds of someones roosters crowing! The hike around Waboose Lake was challenging but fun. We did it twice because of lost glasses. Saw swans with youngsters and ducks. Saw deer on the ride back and forth to cabin. Nevis is an adorable town. Nice stay.
Ad is very accurate. Very nice property by the water. A lot of space to enjoy. We did not take advantage of being on the water or fishing or using the grill or making a campfire. But all that is available. Maybe bring some groceries in with you as it’s a little bit of a drive back to the store. But not terrible.
We had a great time!
The facility was very clean and the property owner thought of everything. Very well stocked.
Only negative, that may be a positive for some, is the road. Severe washboard for 3 miles. City folks may find this annoying. Definitely gives the vehicle a workout.
We had a wonderful time and in a heartbeat would book again. In fact, we plan to come back again in the summer - if there are openings and again in the fall.
Bring your camera, your video recorder or even a game camera if you love nature. Every early morning and late evening we set out in our car to view the wildlife - deer, fox, eagles & geese and yes, we saw a bear TWICE on these drives. These animals could also be found in the yard on occasion.
Fishing in the lake was grand! We caught a ton of fish just by casting off from the dock. Could barely throw out a line before the other person had another “Fish On!”
The cabin was well stocked. Homes often don’t have this much in the way of towels, blankets, and in the kitchen there were plenty of choices and it was good quality equipment.
The hosts are wonderful. Very informative about the area and every so friendly but not wanting to be invasive (which they weren’t).
Just isn’t a better place to stay - AND you can bring your dog along too!

Liked: Check-in, communication
Disliked: Location, listing accuracy
Slightly inaccurate listing
We stayed here for 3 nights. Overall, we had a nice time, but there were several things about the property that did not meet our expectations based on the listing.
First, the 'cabin' is actually a modified trailer house. There is no washer or dryer inside, and the shower/bath had a broken knob that made the bathtub unusable. We were okay with just taking showers, but a family with small kids might not be. Additionally, the bedding on the queen bed smelled very musty, and holes/gaps in the windows and screens let bugs inside.
Second, we are avid hikers and were disappointed to discover that none of the 'nearby trails' were useable due to swarms of bugs. Even the yard outside the cabin had not been de-bugged, so we spent much of our time indoors and had to drive 20 minutes to the nearest paved hiking trail.
And third, my daughter was sad to discover that she could not swim in the 'beach' area near the dock because the water was filled with tall weeds in every direction. There was literally no clear space to swim in.
We made the best of the situation and still had a good time, but I do believe that the listing is misleading. Had we known ahead of time, we would not have booked this location.
This place was much more remote than I anticipated, which was great for us. There are neighbors, but only one is somewhat close. We were lucky in that nobody was around most of the time. It was super peaceful and pretty.
When we arrived we were confused about which parts of the property were available to use, as the kayaks, firepit, and beach were all over by another house. The little beach was roped off so it didn’t seem like we could use that, so we didn’t. The kayaks were nice but there were TONS of caterpillars, and locusts all over them. We tried blasting them off with the hose, but it didn’t really work. We ended up renting a couple of kayaks because the bug situation on some of them was just too gross. I think if the kayaks were covered or in a shed it would have been so much better.
The caterpillars were way too bad for us to be over in the area with the kayaks. Not sure if these can be sprayed for, but if so it would make it a lot better. There was also a lot of goose droppings all over the property. I don’t fault the owners for this. Just be aware if you have small children and make sure you always have shoes on. Inside of the trailer was clean and had everything except maybe another fan. Holes in screens did let bugs in which was really bad our last night and made it so we couldn’t open windows. Overall good experience kind owners
Beautiful storefront however no beach as it looked that way in the pics. But I will say that was THE CLEANEST CABIN I HAVE EVER BEEN TO!!! Cabin had everything you needed and then some. The owners are the nicest people. Very helpful and kind hearted. They even let me bring my 4 dogs which is almost unheard of anywhere else. Fishing was slow but could have just been a bad week. We would come back again. Thanks for everything Brian and Cindy!!
