Relaxing vacation

Wonderful location with a beautiful pool and the Carriage house was amazing. Everything you need for a very relaxing break. We will definitely be back!

A beautiful and tranquil stay

Our family can't say enough great things about our recent stay. The grounds of the estate are beautiful and tranquil. We quickly found our favorite spots to just watch the river and wildlife. The Carriage House has an amazing interior that matches the history and grandeur of the estate while also having modern amenities. The pool was perfectly situated in its own garden setting and the covered colonnade provided a wonderful shaded place to relax in the shade. We will definitely be back!

Amazing getaway!

We had a wonderful time at the Carriage House! The house was very clean and welcoming. The property is beautiful. The pool was amazing! We will definitely be going back for another stay!

We loved out stay

My family and I needed a place to spend sometime with each other while social distancing. This was a perfect location. It was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The property manager was very accessible and flexible. My only feedback is our understanding was we could use the whole house. But, we were only allowed to use the downstairs. It was still big enough and nice. Thank you! Beautiful well managed property.

Beautiful location, stylish property

My family and I stayed at the Carriage House at Cumberland Estate for a week during the Christmas holiday in 2022. The setting is spectacular, located on an historical site on a bluff overlooking the Pamunkey River. The views are amazing. Next door on the Estate is the historical home, a part of which is antebellum. The Carriage House has been built on the site of an old barn, which has been completely remodeled into a guest property. It is gorgeous. The furniture and art are amazing - it is quite the luxurious apartment. Rooms are spacious and lovely. The setting is very rural, including beautiful views of the night sky without any artificial light anywhere nearby. During our stay, Virginia experienced extremely cold weather. Understandably, the heating system struggled to keep up in a couple of the rooms for a couple of nights. Management graciously reimbursed us for part of our stay. Management was very responsive to all of our requests. Highly recommended property.

Beautiful home; serene location

This is a wonderful place for anyone who loves history! The carriage house is very comfortable with high end finishes for things like bed linens and bathrooms. We loved the accommodations but our experience was enhanced by the location. The carriage house is on a beautiful estate with gorgeous gardens and river views. The property is beautiful and so relaxing to walk around. We had a fabulous family thanksgiving and hope to return for another visit one day!
