Power cuts, no running hot water and issues with onboarding (the hotel apparently didn't have me on record for even checking in over the weekend) meant that this simple but effective two-day stay was peppered with problems from start to finish.

I would strongly advise against staying at this establishment, as we had a truly disappointing experience. Bedbugs were discovered in both our room and our friends' room on the first floor, specifically rooms 120 and 126. Although we were offered alternative accommodations, it was unfortunately too late, as we had already discarded most of our clothing and needed to fumigate our car to prevent bringing the infestation home. Most concerning was the impression that the staff appeared to be aware of the issue yet continued accepting bookings to capitalize on the Great North Run weekend. This unfortunate situation severely hindered what should have been an enjoyable weekend participating in the event. While I acknowledge the hotel’s two-star rating, I believe that maintaining a high standard of cleanliness is an essential expectation.
