Sweet, Spacious Garden Apartment Rockridge/Temescal

Beautiful, spacious apartment on a quiet street in the middle of it all! Walking distance to BART, College Ave, wonderful restaurants, markets and fun shopping. Perfect for people re-locating who want a slightly extended stay to explore the area.

This is completely separate apartment in the lower level of a beautiful Mediterranean home. It has its own private entrance. There is an eat-in kitchen, separate dining & living room & lovely outdoor courtyard. Plenty of street parking is generally available. There is also a sofa bed available with a one time charge of $25 for extra linens, towels, etc.

This apartment is not suitable for children between the ages of 1 and 11.

Our fully equipped kitchen has a refrigerator, gas range, microwave, and ample cabinet space. The eat-in dining area can seat 2-4. There is a separate dining room with space for up to 6.

There is one private bedroom with a queen sized bed and bedding, large closet, desk and 2 chests of drawers. Additionally, there is a twin sleep sofa. The living room has a flat screen TV.

There is a private bathroom with a shower and tub.

Please note - there is absolutely no smoking anywhere on the property.

The owner of the property lives on the property. I am the host and am often available to greet you upon arrival. I'm usually
reachable by text from 8:30am to 11pm.

Other things to note

Any stays longer than 2 weeks require an interim cleaning. There is an additional charge of $85 for the extra cleaning, which includes top to bottom cleaning of the apartment, clean linens and freshly made bed, clean towels, sparkling clean kitchen and bathroom.

Any guests using the sleep sofa will be charged a one-time $50 fee, regardless of the number of guests in the group. This charge covers extra linens, pillows & blankets for the sleep sofa.

Parties are absolutely not permitted and quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am.

The fun and popular Rockridge and Temescal neighborhoods are some of the best in Oakland. The apartment is centrally located just a couple blocks in either direction to these highly walkable neighborhoods found on College, Claremont and Telegraph Avenues. You will be delighted to find an abundance of coffee houses, markets, cafes, pubs, boutiques, parks, playgrounds and more.

We are 2.5 miles to the UC Berkeley campus and a few blocks from CCA. Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are very close by. We are also very close to other great neighborhoods such as Piedmont, Lake Merritt and Montclair The lovely hills and redwood forest are just a fifteen minute drive away.

Lovely property.

I have stayed here before and will again. It is in a nice quiet neighborhood and just five minutes walk to Trader Joe’s. I love the cleanliness of the property and the bed is just so comfy. This time I met Jeri and she is just lovely and ver helpful.

Good Place in Great Neighborhood

This is a nice unit that the owner/host has done a good job of decorating to make comfortable and homey. It is within reasonable walking distance of some very good restaurants, bakeries, produce markets, cheese shops, butchers and grocery stores and BART. It is also very well furnished, at the top of any VRBO in which we have stated. The host was very friendly, extremely responsive and very solicitous of anything we needed. We booked the place for two weeks because we decided to move out of our condo during renovation of our two bathrooms that was going to take between 6-8 weeks. We wanted a home away from home and were disappointed to find that the full size refrigerator that we saw in the photos of the place had been replaced with a mini-fridge that was in serious need of defrosting. It was not adequate for what we wanted or needed during our stay and we ended up bringing in an ice chest to keep some things cold. The property description was also not exactly accurate in saying that it had a "coin operated laundry" as there are no washer or dryer on premises. The reference is to a laundromat that is over four blocks away. The place is perfectly fine, although taller folks may feel a little confined by the less that 7' ceilings. It just did not have all we wanted given the length and purposes of our stay.

Great, large apartment in lower Rockridge

This is a great property in lower Rockridge and a very good value. We stayed over a long weekend during a family event nearby. Jeri is a terrific host with excellent communication. She was on site if needed, but nothing was needed. She was also flexible and helpful with things like extra bedding. Some things to know: This is a spacious basement apartment with a large living/dining room, small but full bathroom, large kitchen and separate bedroom. There's a small built-in desk in the living room and plenty of power. If there is any negative, it is that this is in a very nicely finished basement. The ceiling is not quite full height and there is a slightly musty smell. That said, it is very clean and nicely furnished. It is warm, quiet and safe. The water pressure in the shower could be better, but it's perfectly adequate. I note these negatives just so customers are aware up front. On the flip side, it's very reasonably priced, cute, and convenient. I would absolutely stay here again. Jeri is one of the best and nicest hosts I've encountered.

Great place to stay in Oakland

This proved to be the perfect place for me to stay in Oakland while I was visiting my daughter who lives in the area. I was traveling alone, and felt very safe there. The apartment is roomy, comfortably furnished, and well equipped. The bed was especially comfortable and conducive to a good night’s sleep. The apartment is located in the back yard of a quiet street, so there was very little noise. I loved being close to Berkeley, and went to Berkeley Bowl and Trader Joe’s a couple of times. I always found parking on the street, sometimes a few houses down, but this was not a big deal for me. I had a difficult journey getting there due to flight issues, so arrived much later than l had planned. Jeri very kindly met me and walked me to the door of the apartment and opened it up for me. My stay was problem free. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

The apartment is very spacious and clean, the bed very comfortable and in an area walkable to dining and grocery shopping. A tall person might find the low ceilings a little claustrophobic but it didn't bother us. Communication with the host was very good. It met our needs and we would return.

Returned to this location after staying here about a year ago. The host is very attentive and communicates well. The unit is cozy but uncluttered. A very nice choice for two 60 -somethings visiting children in the area. The kitchen has an extraordinarily good set of knives and cookware. Will return again next chance we get.

Great Spot!

This property was perfect for our short stay in Oakland. The location is convenient. The neighborhood is quiet. The unit was very clean. Bed was comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. The host went out of her way to make us feel welcome and available to us. I would stay here again!

Great property

The property was super clean. The bed was super comfy. The host was very helpful. I will definitely be staying here again when I visit my son. My only concern was the dining room chairs were rather hard. I weigh less than 100 pounds and do not have excess padding. I understand cushions may get spills on but next time I will order some ahead. It is the least I can do to give back to a host with such good taste and excellent customer service skills.

Disappointed

We had stayed here before. However, this time we were not happy. To start with, we couldn’t get in. The owner was out of the country, but left names and numbers of 2 contacts. Neither could be reached. I do think that if a host will not be present for check in they should make it clear that one of their contacts must be reachable. The bathroom was not clean enough. Mold is starting to grow on the grout and caulking. Some places where the flooring meets the baseboards are outright black with gunk. Though we spent 4 nights, we were provided with only 1 set of towels each. We could not find any more. In my opinion, the whole unit needs fresh paint. There are many scrapes, gouges, and marks on the walls and woodwork. On the plus side, the bed is very comfortable, and the unit is spacious. The location is super.

Spacious and pet a cute, friendly cat outside

I come to visit my daughter at Cal 2-3x/year. And, I always fly and use public transportation because it’s so readily available. Check in was exactly how Jeri described it. She was wonderful in her communication; it wasn’t too much or too little. Personally, I love very detailed instructions and she provided it to a tee. I had asked about the possibility of early check in. And, Jeri texted me to let me know that the place was ready much earlier than anticipated. I had an issue w the towels and she came down and switched them out w me immediately (she lives upstairs). The place is very spacious, much larger than how it appears in the photos. We were so happily surprised! There’s a true separate living room, full size kitchen, and the bedroom is set back from the living room in case you have someone using the sleeper sofa. I’m assuming it folds open like a futon because we didn’t use it but a sleeper sofa was mentioned in the house binder. The only thing for me is that it’s located pretty deep within the blocks of houses. I love Oakland during the day but, I’m wary of walking in dark places at night. So, we ended up ubering much more than expected. It’s about .5 mile walk in either direction to Telegraph and College. That’s not a noticeably long walk until nightfall. I also opened a Gig car account on this trip because of the walking. It’s a nice quiet neighborhood tho. I don’t think you need a permit for street parking. Def a cute spot & I recommend it!

This unit is on the ground floor behind the house on the street. The inside of the unit was clean and functional but the shared patio area seemed slightly overgrown. Our host, Jeri, was delightful and responded immediately to our requests. Great walkable neighborhood to Market Hall, Trader Joe’s and many other small shops. Farmer’s Markets nearby. Friends who live local suggest not leaving anything of value in your car but walking to restaurants and shopping caused no safety concerns.

Cozy and convenient

Jeri was great with communicating with us regarding everything. The little apartment was in a nice neighborhood that was a 5-10 minute drive to Berkeley campus. It was exactly what we were looking for while we moved our daughter in for the fall semester.
