Cozy & Cute

Perfect little room with everything you need, comfortable bed, two sitting chairs, bathroom, shower, separate changing room... very clean, safe and welcoming. The neighborhood is awesome and everything is within walking distance, bout 10 mins to the Stone Pony. Would def stay here again!

Location, location, location

The Melrose was a spotless, comfortable property very close to the beach in Ocean Grove and a short walk to restaurants in both Ocean Grove and Asbury Park. The 24-hour Keurig coffee kiosk was just outside the door to my unit--very convenient. I would eagerly stay here again.

Short get away

Just a one-night stay in town for a concert at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park. This was walking distance to the venue and also many dining options just across the bridge. Neighborhood of well kept historic properties, lovely gardens, quiet surroundings. We recommend the starving artists at days for breakfast. they also have ice cream parlor. We weren't aware of the history of Ocean Grove and that it is a 'dry town' but just across the bridge or town border into Asbury Park are plenty of options if you are looking for an alcoholic drink. Very enjoyable adventure.

Perfect!

I was in Asbury Park for a concert and this was very convenient to the venue. My room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. I would definitely stay there again! Parking was not supposed to be an issue, but I got a parking ticket on the street because it snowed overnight....so just be mindful of the parking! (Obviously, that has nothing to do with the property, it's just a warning!) Also, I forgot something in my room and doubled back, and the young blonde woman who was cleaning was very kind and knew exactly what I came back for...and she saved it for me. Hoping to have occasion to stay at the Melrose again!

Really great spot

A quick walk right to the beach and boardwalk and both downtown towns! Nice and clean room! Bed was super comfy! Really enjoyed our stay.

Quaint. Walkable to shops and beach. It was a brief overnight. If I ever find myself in need of staying in the area I would choose Melrose. And there’s a refrigerator!! Very clean. The sound machine was a nice touch. Thank you for the stay.

Winter Break

Quiet retreat in unit 1A. Quick 2 days to relax during the week. Close to Asbury Park, beach at the end of the block. View of the lake and neighbors. Park just around the block with additional parking. Room is clean. Fridge in room with microwave available upon request, which we did. Property manager and owner are very responsive to our requests. Would stay again.

Great after season weekend

We enjoyed our stay but have two recommendations. Arriving in the dark, we tripped on the one step of the walkway at the sidewalk. A reflective strip would make that much safer. Being a beautifully renovated old victorian house, leveling the floors would have been appreciated. We did, however, enjoy our stay. BK

Poor communication,difficult to access property keyless code entry, Improper Water access. No water pressure and then no water at 5 AM water didn’t get turned back on till 8 AM an hour and 20 minutes after they were notified. Bath towel had a hairball in it . Just note the room was clean and heat worked ok . We had a hard time getting their emails The water system they have is not proper for the guests They need more onsite management service or but communication

Good but need to work on climate control

The heat/ac worked well but constantly turns on and off and is loud. Light sleepers beware. We woke up multiple times through the night.

Perfect Room &Location

Came in to see family who live in the surrounding neighborhoods. The room was all we needed.. I will say being close to the lobby and coffee station was a bit load at times, but other than that, a great stay. I will stay again when coming to visit family! Thank you!!

A Bed and Bath, not a Bed and Breakfast!

Had the weather not been so awful for a Memorial Day week-end, and had we not paid optimum price for this property, our impression would have been better! After reading very positive comments about the Melrose on what appeared to be their current website, we were under the impression that a « delicious breakfast » would be served in the morning, but that website apparently described the Melrose under previous ownership. The new Melrose is a « Bed and Bath » and doesn’t offer breakfast. That was very confusing. Also, perhaps more bathrooms linens could be included as there were two bath towels only and one hand towel to be used for three nights. Also just one little bottle each of body wash, shampoo and conditioner which we used sparingly to make them last three days. The room wasn’t cleaned for the entire duration of our stay, perhaps due to the Covid virus. There was a convenient small refrigerator in the room, and we were very thankful for the coffee machine available to all guests at the entrance of the Melrose.

Wonderful respite in Ocean Grove.

Great space for relaxing, with just a short two-block walk to the beach and boardwalk. Our communication back and forth with the owner/manager was very helpful, happened easily; she was very responsive and informative.
