Great location

Easy walk to the beach and Asbury Park, lovely view of the lake. Comfortable mattress, good coffee, quiet, austere. We came to get some writing done and we were very happy at the Melrose.

Short getaway

My husband and I needed a last-minute getaway trip. We were only looking for a place to sleep. It was a small, quaint area by the beach. We enjoyed the walk to nearby stores and towns. The town is quiet, which was what we were looking for. It’s relatively in a good location as it has both the small-town feel and it’s 60-90 minutes outside of Manhattan! So we were able to go there as well. We’re from the DC metropolitan area, so we’re used to the 60-90-minute commute into the city. Please keep in mind that Melrose is not a hotel and is not a bed and breakfast. However, they do provide a microwave, coffee, and water in the lobby and a refrigerator in your room. The amenities are minimal, but if that’s all you need, then this is a place to stay. I ran into the cleaning service person, and she’s very welcoming! One caveat is that we came here in the winter, the last week of December. We didn’t know that the room would be so dry. We didn’t stay for long, so we were okay without a humidifier. Besides that, my husband wants to come back—! I’m not sure when because this whole trip was spontaneous from the beginning. Thanks for the hospitality!

Yacht Rock Weekend

The property was clean and comfortable. The property management was quick and responsive with all details. The room was much smaller then appears in the photo but was fine for a weekend with a loved one.

Worked Well

Perfect small place to sleep and shower, very clean. Needs a little maintenance: hook fell off door, only way to hang clothes, and small picture fell off wall. It worked well for what we needed as we were out all day. Enjoyed the Keurig coffee on the first morning, but machine needed cleaning on second morning so we were out of luck.

We booked this property off of Expedia. The pictures were all fake. We arrived and the house smelled mildewy. The room was literally a walk in closet with a bathroom and a bed. Both of which were terrible. We did not have enough towels or soap. The flloor was so unstable and uneven. Worst accommodations ever. It was not worth the money we paid.

Photos may NOT be the room you will be staying in. 2b is a bed and a bathroom the size of a college dorm room. From listing photos, I was under the impression there was more space. Property was cute and well kept on the outside and common areas. Worked for what we needed for one night but anything more than that would not have been doable

Perfect location, great people

The complimentary touches like coffee/snacks/water/soda were really nice. It's an old house but a lot of work has been put into it. Very comfy bed. Great shower.

Great location and wonderful host

Great location with an easy walk to beach, shops (both Ocean Grove and Asbury Park), and restaurants. Very clean room. Small room but has everything you need. Great porches on first and 2nd floor.

Ok for what it is

Not a traditional BnB. No food served at all, just a Keurig coffee station in the lobby. No access to ice unless you make it yourself via the in-room mini fridge. Our room (2B) was very small, cramped and dated. No ability to hang anything up. And severely lacking in available power outlets.
