Cottage, great for a couple or small family.
This cottage has a wonderful front porch for enjoying sitting outside and relaxing. The view is of Teeters campground. It was renovated in 2018 and a second bedroom was added in 2019. It is a two bedroom (queen in the master and bunk beds in the other)we do NOT provide sheets, one bath, open floor plan with living room and kitchen. The kitchen is very basic, if you are planning to cook gourmet meals, this is NOT the place for you. Ocracoke has many wonderful restaurants. The location is within walking distance to Silver Lake and the shops and restaurants and is spitting distance from the British Cemetery. The beach is a mile from the rental. There is a Smart TV in the first bedroom and living room with internet and cable. You will need your own Netflix, Hulu or Amazon account, and for those that are not tech savvy, we have cable. We do NOT post on Craigslist, so if you see it there it is not us renting it. We only go through VRBO/Home Away.
We do not offer refunds for weather related cancellations, ferry issues or illness. We highly recommend that you purchase optional travel insurance. If you want to do early check in there is an additional $45 fee. It is extra added stress for our cleaners to have everything ready for those that get here on an early ferry. Normal check in time is 3:30 pm and check out time is 11:00. If you want to check out late it is a $100 fee.

It was a very nice stay, regardless of the Noreaster! We have never come this late in the season and it was very peaceful. No crowds! We didn't get to do everything we wanted because of the storm, but we were very cozy in the house. It hardly made any noise. Very sturdy. If it wasn't for seeing the blowing rain out the patio door, you would never have known it was storming. It was nice that we could also bring our dog. And having a golf cart on premises to rent was also a bonus!

My wife and I needed a couple of extra nights on Ocracoke and came upon this cottage. Though small, the property included all the amenities two people need, so long as one is not a gourmet chef. Unlike other much more expensive places we have rented on Ocracoke, the Internet was excellent. The ambience of the place was terrific. The value proposition offered here is incommensurate when compared to the hotel rooms which we found to be approximately the same price. The attention we received from the owners when we had questions was excellent, too. Really, couldn't say enough good things about our stay.

We just wrapped up our third incredible stay at The Buccaneer cottage on Ocracoke, and it certainly won't be our last! This property has truly become our home away from home, consistently delivering everything we look for in a vacation rental.For our family of four (husband, wife, 17yo, 10yo), The Buccaneer is the perfect size. It offers ample space to relax and unwind without feeling too big or too small. When not eating out, it has a nice kitchen to start the day with a good breakfast and a charcoal grill for chicken and steaks for dinner! The location is unbeatable, putting us right where we want to be to enjoy all that Ocracoke has to offer! What truly sets The Buccaneer apart, though, are the hosts. They are incredibly friendly and provide great communication from booking to checkout, making the entire process seamless and stress-free. A huge bonus is the option to have a golf cart rental waiting upon arrival. This immediately gets our island adventures underway without any hassle.If you're looking for a fantastic Ocracoke getaway, we wholeheartedly recommend The Buccaneer!

A hidden gem on Ocracoke!
This is our second year in a row staying at The Buccaneer in Ocracoke. The property is perfect for me any my son, though there is just us two the property can comfortably house 4. The owners are an absolute delight and very accommodating. We will be back next year for sure! Thanks Russ, Ellen, and of course NOODLES!!!

Great location
We really enjoyed our time in Ocracoke. The Buccaneer was perfect for our family. Probably the only downside was the spotty internet at times. But, that was a minor thing. Overall--great place and a great vacation

Short Island trip
We are on an adventure to see all the lighthouses in NC and we stayed here for our wonderful visit to the Ocracocke Lighthouse and I can’t recommend it enough. If i was going back this is the place to stay, if i had a larger crowd there is an additional property that is kinda attached on in the back but you don’t see those people coming or going if it happens to be rented as well (because it was by a fisherman) and you don’t hear the people. Everything is close so I imagine during mid season maybe July or so you may be able to be hear a little more but the entire island was really quiet.
