The "Payson House" is spacious with magnificent, unobstructed views of trees and mountain surroundings from inside and out. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood. Relax on the porch swing and watch birds and hummingbirds fly by. The living room has comfy leather furniture with large windows to enjoy the view. The house features four bedrooms, two baths and sleeps 12-14 comfortably.
The Payson House is in a great location......in Payson! Just 2 miles off of the Beeline Hwy(87), so you'll be close to town for all your shopping needs, from grocery stores, restaurants, theater. park and Mazatzal Casino. If you just want to kick back and relax or take on the great outdoors, the Payson House offers both.
Incredible hiking area just 5 minutes away with easy to intermediate hiking, with trails that lead to the top of the mountain range that you can see from our viewing deck....beautiful! (Bring your binoculars!) Superb Mountain Biking just minutes away as well!
Lounge in the 'Little Forest area" down below the main house where you will find a fire pit and benches for casual conversation or for a larger group. Pitch a tent(s) and view the stars at night while eating a delicious s'more. There is a CORNHOLE game. We also have a Pool Table and a Ping Pong table!
WE ARE PET FRIENDLY! Outside our back door is a great area to walk your pets. Plenty of places for hiking for you and your dog(s).
If you like to fish, many lakes are to be found on the Mogollon Rim. You are only 40 minutes from Roosevelt Lake which is known for fantastic bass fishing. The East Verde River is only 20 minutes away and is stocked on a weekly basis during fishing season. The owner usually gets his limit almost every outing. Woods Canyon lake is also great for fishing and kayaking, etc. We are just forty minutes away from Kohls Ranch, which offers horseback riding and fishing on Tonto Creek. Tonto Creek Fish Hatchery is a must see! The Natural Bridge is just 15 minutes away.


ATTENTION- this vacation home is located in a quiet family-oriented neighborhood and is only suitable for quieter groups. Our rental policy includes a no tolerance policy regarding excessive noise, occupancy, and parties. Evictions and forfeitures of deposit for any violations of said policies are strictly enforced. Please be sure you are comfortable with these policies before renting The Payson House.

Great Location

The property was well maintained. the location in town was excellent. The pictures on the website were very actuate. The Host communicated quickly and answered all questions. The home was clean and well kept. When looking for a place in town and close to shopping and restaurants, this is the place you should consider.

Christmas in April

Nestled within the tall pine trees. Very quiet regardless of other homes around. Has a game room that kept we participated playing games. Very clean in and out. Went fishing, site seeing, gambling, saw young elk in Pine. Shopped in near by towns. Enjoyed Beeline cafe, and the Bandit. We able to reach Doug at any time if needed. Very kind and helped us recover an item that we left behind. They are awesome! Highly recommended his rental. Thank you!

The home was spacious and welcoming. The view from the back deck was beautiful. Inside plenty of room for sitting six kids and adults. The game room was a hit. Playing ping pong with the family. Kid’s love to play outside and how nice it was to have a nice fire pit outside with the family sitting around eating s’mores.

Lovely stay in Payson!

The house is wonderful! We enjoyed the quiet—with sounds of birds—from the large and comfortable deck with a swing seat. The deck has views of the immediate open natural area and a more distant forested hill. We saw lizards, a javelina, elk, hawks, and hummingbirds from the deck, in the natural area behind the house. We enjoyed quiet walks and exploration with children right off of the back of the house, with shaded, quiet seating near the fire pit. The house is large, comfortable, clean, and well stocked with blankets, towels, a laundry room, and everything one might need for all sorts of cooking. The house was very comfortable for our party of 6, including a toddler and preteen child. It is a lovely, relaxing, and peaceful place to stay! Thank you!

get out of the heat

hosted my Phoenix family in July to get out of the heat a bit. (15 degrees makes a difference) Great home, location and everything you need. Worked well with dogs. July 4th great show in Payson. Host was excellent and helpful. would happily stay again.

loved this view!

The pictures do not tell the story of this back yard view! We loved this neighborhood so much we decided to buy a place in the area. It is quiet with beautiful views, and we enjoyed neighborhood walks and relaxing on this deck. This is a great spot for a family gathering. The only reason I gave 4 stars for cleanliness is the carpet needs to be cleaned and the living room furniture is past it's lifetime, but everything else was very clean and we had a great time.

Family Getaway

After a canceled softball tournament we still made the trip and enjoyed the company of family. Even thought weather had us inside most of the time there was plenty to keep us busy. Once the sun came out we were close to parks and made less then 15 min trip to Tonto Natural Bridge State Park.

Nice family home

We stayed in Doug & Patricia’s family home for our family’s spring break with children ranging in age from 5-12 years old. In total there were 7 of us. Pros: Lovely view, nice back porch. Close to town. Pool table/ping pong. Well stocked kitchen! Ample sleeping arrangements & comfortable bedding. Large family table for dining. Kids games/legos for entertainment. Little updates throughout the home have made it feel very welcoming & inviting. Cons Hosts seemed confused regarding our arrival date initially. House was very cold on arrival and set at 55 degrees. Took awhile to heat up and max temp is set at 69 degrees. Non-functioning bath tub made it difficult to give our twin 5 year olds a bath. No dishwasher.
