The Loft on the Square is a well-crafted tribute to the historical days of Abe Lincoln with modern day amenities. Leaving much of the original structure exposed shows appreciation to the building’s bricks and bones. Local businesses also offer plenty to explore. This will be our go-to for visiting family and friends in the area!

The room is very nice. Luckily It was the men of the family that stayed there and not the ladies. First morning there was an almost dead mouse laying on the stairs. The next day there was a dead mouse in front of the refrigerator. Obviously there is poison out and they are trying to control this situation but I will never stay there.

Perfect charming get-a-way.
March in the midwest can get a bit long so we thought we'd plan a little time in Springfield and finish touring some of the Lincoln sites we had missed before. Petersburg is just a short, but beautiful ride so when we spotted the Loft on the Square we went for it. And while the Lincoln sites were great, this sweet loft really made our time special. Well planned, welcoming lay out with everything and anything we could possibly ask for. Clean, comfortable and within walking distance to nice restaurants, shops and antique haunts. Brewery right next door made for easy entertainment! In particular, we really enjoyed the history and learning more about the Loft! Thank you. We will be back. (Apologies for the late review!)

Beautiful well-appointed renovated apartment in heart of Lincoln Land
Wonderfully restored second floor apartment well stocked with all one could need for a comfortable stay. Loved all of the antiques and the location on the Square. Enjoyed the local brewery and cafe next door. We would definitely rent again.

Charming loft in historic Petersburg
This was a lovely get-away vacation. The loft is exactly as represented, clean, cozy & charming. It was a great place to stay while visiting all the historic sites in the area. Great communication with the property manager. I highly recommend staying at the loft. I had everything I needed.

Very relaxing in a beautiful historic house with history and charm to spare!!
The Loft was so nice in Petersburg we can't wait to go back again! We want to go back in the Spring when we can enjoy the wonderful rooftop deck outside. My husband really enjoyed ourselves and had a much needed break from well....everything. Beautiful place, so charming and peaceful to just sit and sip wine and relax. The Loft has everything there that you could possibly need or forget to bring-so "forget about it-really" lol! Becca was absolutely the nicest person I have ever talked to on the phone! We really enjoyed the stay. The loft was very cool and eclectic in its styling. Only difficulty was checking in. We were sent 3 different codes within the VRBO app, none of which worked. However, a kind waitress at the brewery next door had a spare key and let us in.

My husband and I stayed at the Loft on the Square for our 9th anniversary and really enjoyed our stay. The location was ideal with the brewery downstairs and the shops close by around the square. The renovation of theoft is very impressive and love all the unique design aspect which make it a home. Thank you for being amazing hosts. We will definitely be returning to the Loft as soon as possible.

Better Than Advertised
I stayed here over Christmas weekend with my husband, 4- and 2-year-olds while we visited family in the area. It was everything the listing indicates and more. We stay in a lot of vacation rentals and never have we stayed in one so well appointed. In addition to coffee, paper products, kitchenware and plenty of linens, I was pleasantly surprised that even basic toiletries were provided. An added bonus is that the loft was all decorated for Christmas! The apartment is bigger than the pictures let on, and there was plenty of space for us to spread out. There was a folding room divider in the bedroom so we used that to create a dark little corner for my 2-year-old’s pack n play. My 4-year-old slept on an air mattress in the little nook across from the bathroom. The location is ideal - walking distance to anything Petersburg has to offer. Access to the apartment was exactly as the instructions indicate. We had some trouble locking the door from inside (user error), and the owner responded to my message very promptly. We would not hesitate to stay here again - and very likely will!

The Loft accommodations was everything the listing advertised and more. Clean, quiet and comfortable are just a few words I'd use to describe it. Also very convenient for all the places we wanted to see and do in the area. This is an awesome location and the host is very easy to work with. We'd stay again when we are in the area.

3 stars, not to many ready available restaurants to eat, you have to drive 30 minutes for anything.... town closes down at 5pm ( except DQ) only 2 fast food stores nothing else. Lincoln park closed

Jerry, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We wanted to respond since this is unlike any of the other reviews that we've received. With regard to Lincoln's New Salem State Park, as stated on their website, their hours are: May thru October, open 7 days per week, 9am to 5pm, November thru April, open Wednesday thru Sunday, 9am to 4pm. With regard to your note about our local restaurants, we do have a guide in the loft that we would have loved for you to check out - it lists all of the local restaurants and their hours, including Leo's Pizza and Dr. Ugs Cafe (inside of Hand of Fate Brewery) which are both just steps from the loft. We have other nice restaurants to choose from too, including Los Rancheros, China Ocean, Riverbank Lodge Lounge, and others. As for fast food, we do have DQ, Hardees, Subway and Casey's (pizza and sandwiches). We hope you can check some of these places out if you happen to be back in town sometime. Beautiful rehab in a beautiful old building! Modern upgrades, appliances, bathroom, and comfy bed! Cozy gas fireplace adds to the ambiance! Linens, dishes, coffee...all ready to go! Great for couples or small group getaway. Close to Lincoln's New Salem and only 1/2 hr to Springfield, excellent location, cute little town. We will be back!

Our overnight at The Loft on the Square was a wonderful experience. The spacious loft was very comfortable and the design and decorations impeccable! My only wish was that I could have stayed several days longer to enjoy more of the hospitality the city of Petersburg has to offer. The Hand of Fate Brewery just next door and downstairs is a gem and part of the overall charm! Delicious beer and an inviting vibe for an out of town visitor! Totally loved our visit and will be back soon!!

Very stylish and well stocked home. Great decorating and thoughtful touches. Only one bed in the place, although it is a very comfortable bed; the rest are either pull-out beds or pallets that can be made on the floor. However, it is well stocked with extra pillows, blankets, and padding. Beautiful view. Very clean.

As the listing states: 1 Queen bed 1 Sofa Sleeper 1 Ottoman that converts to twin bed 1 Youth Camp Bed (actual mattress, but smaller than a twin) Queen & Twin air mattress & additional linens also provided. Just clarifying for future guests so that they’re not confused by the word “pallet” as we do not have any pallet beds. Thanks for taking time to leave feedback! Beautiful and Historic!
We loved staying at the loft! We were in town for a wedding, and it was perfect. It is incredibly well decorated, and the kitchen and bathroom have lots of supplies. We loved the back patio as well as the drinks and food in the brewery downstairs. I would just recommend adding a full length mirror to the space somewhere. Thanks for a great stay!

The property is GREAT!
We had four women stay. Each had there own place to sleep!! Amy had the bathroom stocked with a curling iron, straightener, blow dryer, q-tips, shampoo/conditioner, body wash and on and on!! So....if you forgot anything, it was there! Thanks so much Amy!! Would definitely stay again and recommend!!

Hi Amber - So happy to hear you loved the loft! We do keep our rates very low so that lots of people can experience Petersburg and the loft. We charge a flat rate of $100, $3 in lodging tax, and a $25 housekeeping fee (our actual cost). Unfortunately, we can't control any additional fees that you may have been charged since you used a booking site to make your reservation. We think $103/night is a great deal for a brand new space that accommodates a good sized group and is very well stocked & we hope you'll consider visiting again! Great Place...
Based on the reviews, we had pretty high expectations of The Loft. Our expectations were met and exceeded. What a cool place! We are already planning to stay here again in the future. We couldn’t recommend this property any higher. It’s fantastic!

peaceful stay
We were in town to visit family and could not be happier with our lodging. It is quiet and yet close to everything. The only problem was our cell phones did not work. The kitchen was well equipped, the linens were very nice, and the loft is quaint and comfortable.
