Just like I remembered it
This was our third time being at Pine Grove cottage, and it was just as beautiful and peaceful as I remembered it. The beautiful pond and the pine trees and the fishing was good. The cottage was well stocked with everything we needed

Good old east Texas countryside
The cabin was very clean and tidy and there were good dishes and pots and pans, and everything you need. We stayed in the king bed and it was comfortable enough. The heat and air worked well. We really enjoyed the beauty of the area and the big trees in the back. Paula was a great host and was easy to communicate with. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was due to the seating in the living area. Great large screen TV, but the little couches in the room are very small and quite uncomfortable for any long term sitting or lounging. We found them hard to relax on comfortably. But we really enjoyed our stay overall. Its a cute little place.

Wonderful Time
Me and my wife were very happy with all areas of our trip to this property. Very peaceful, quite absolutley beautiful view from back enclosed room and back yard. If you do not like spending time in the outdoors or are looking for a high tech modern vacation this is probably not for you. But if you are looking for a comfortable ( beds very comfortable ) peaceful place to enjoy the outdoors and fishing along with a cabin set in the piney woods then THIS IS FOR you. We both loved our stay and would gladley return for another trip.

I always love staying at Mrs. Paula Archer’s rentals. They’re always so homely and comfortable. All rooms have fantastic ceiling fans and soft furnishings. The kitchen is always equipped for normal dinners, with all the silverware and seasonings. The extensive outside area is always a plus for us, that’s why we’ll drive nearly 2 hours just to stay with her. I can’t wait to return, but I will absolutely book for more than two nights. I want to stay an entire week! I also hope to experience better weather. It was too cold to fish while we were there. Texas weather changes on a dime. Thanks again for a relaxing visit. -Mary

East Texas Sanctuary
If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, this is the place for you. Authentic and well-provisioned cottage in the piney forest with a beautiful 10 acre lake in your back yard. Every detail is taken care of and it comes with lots of extras that you do not have to pay extra for, like access to canoes/paddles, flat bottom boats, life preservers, fire pit, corn hole, board games, everything you could possible want or need in the kitchen (very different from most VRBO rentals), satellite TV, wifi, and they even leave frozen biscuits with a local fresh raspberry jam to welcome you to the rental. There are also cute places to eat within easy driving distance (8 to 10 miles) from the cottage. Finally, the fishing is quite good, especially if you like to fly fish. We slayed the bluegill and bass on fly! All catch-n-release, but very productive fishery. You will not be disappointed. Great for friends or a family needing some time away to bond. Highly recommend!

Amazing Weekend
My family and I love to find places out in East Texas. This place did not disappoint at all! It had everything we needed and plenty of room inside for us. But the best part was the beautiful outdoors immediately in the backyard. We stayed outside most of our time there, which is why we left the city for the weekend. We plan on returning as many times as we can. Paula is a great host and very kind.

Our family had a great time. Place was absolutely beautiful and clean. We spent most of our days around the pond fishing. The kids and I had a blast fishing. We caught some huge bass (6lb 1oz was the biggest but had a couple bigger ones get off) big catfish and absolute giant bluegill. Definitely a relaxing week. The house had everything you need for a week stay.

Fishing is the Top Selling Point
Do you love the country? Trees, birds and oh...FISH! Then this is the place for you. There are some city comforts but the buy-in on this property is the country experience. Drop your line (with a minnow on it) off the top right post of the dock and count to 30. There are some big bass, big crappie and some dinosaur-like turtles that will be there to take the bait. Don't plan on fishing off the dock unless you are sure-footed, also not big enough for more than 1 person at a time Summary: Good indoor amenities, nice 22" inch weber charcoal grill, no covered patio, big fish. Get the minnows at Kitchens Bait House, ask for Jerry. Race the boats for fun, hand-powered competition. Order the 2 dozen eggs. Leave the city expectations behind and enjoy God's Beautiful Creation.

This location is the best of all of the VRBO locations we have stayed over the years. Very relaxing and peaceful location. The Pine Grove Cottage is a perfect stay for two who want an enjoyable, quiet romantic setting. The lake fishing was a lot of fun. Paula is an excellent hostess, does everything possible to ensure you have memorable stay.

Wonderful time!
We had such a great time! The home was super clean and the surrounding outside are as well. Fishing was good! We caught 8 bass and 1 giant catfish! Jim was so sweet!! We loved visiting with him when he fed the catfish. He was a professor and has a fantastic sense of humor. Paula was always very prompt any time we needed anything. We will be back!

We stayed over Labor day 2022 weekend for our "last" family unit outing as our oldest gets married in November. We enjoyed are stay very much. Great quality family time. The goats were fun to interact with. We picked this place for the fishing. It was nice to have boats to get out onto the pond. Sadly the fishing wasn't great. We caught a few the morning we left & nothing bigger than half pound. But the guys enjoyed getting out & being together & that was what the weekend was about. We're a college football family so we were able to hook up our roku & watch all our games as the wifi worked well!! Mosquitoes were bad but we did get in 1 night of campfire. The smoke helped keep them away. I only deducted the 1 star for cleanliness because the sunporch windows were filled with gnats & webs. It really took away from the backyard view. My husband & I slept on the porch trundle bed (all beds were comfy) & every night I had a couple of beetles, spiders or flying bugs on me!! I'm not bug friendly so that was a challenge for me. The house inside was clean with plenty of clean towels & sheets. I will say the 2nd bathroom stall shower is very small. Suggest having more bathroom pixs in listing. The Hosts are very kind & quick to respond to issues. The breaker for hot water went out but they had in fixed in an hour. As I said in title our sons felt the weekend was perfect & that is what mattered the most.

Jim and Tina, thank you again for your visit. We are so glad your family was able to enjoy the cottage. I think you just missed the fishing...the folks who stayed last weekend caught quite a few including a 22 lb catfish and a 4.6 lb bass. Similarly, I think you got a bonanza weekend for bugs. We try to keep some mosquito and fly spray in the pantry in case there are bugs in the area. I should give folks more pointers on how to cut down on any bugs that might be out with both spray and by keeping the lights to a minimum. Also watching that the door to the house is not left open can help dramatically too on those weekends when critters are more plentiful. Thank you again for your stay and your feedback.

Had a wonderfully relaxing time at this beautiful property. Paula was so welcoming and attentive, even leaving jelly, butter and frozen biscuits so we didn’t have to leave for breakfast! The property and pond was lovely, peaceful and quiet. Definitely an oasis away from a busy, hectic life!

Pine Grove Cottage was so relaxing and peaceful. My children enjoyed the fishing, canoeing and petting the goats. Paula also was thoughtful enough to tell us about where we could go to see some 4th of July fireworks. Overall, we all had such a great time and will definitely be returning.

Great Fishing Getaway with College Buddies
Nice clean place that is very well stocked, plenty of soaps, shampoos, coffee, cookware etc. Owners were very nice and quick to respond. The lakes are nice and we caught a good amount of bass (about 10-12 per day each) and one pretty big catfish. We will probably stay there again for our next fishing trip.

Great country getaway!
We had an amazing time! We were looking for a quiet country getaway to enjoy the outdoors, have some uninterrupted family time, and take our youngest kids fishing. This lovely cottage did not disappoint! My wife and I started our day together with coffee overlooking the lake, while the kids had a blast with the mini goats and chickens. Cottage was immaculate, it had everything you’d need, and the property owners were fantastic. They were very thorough before and during our stay to ensure we had the best time. Highly recommended!

We have stayed at Lone Star several times, this was first time at pine grove cottage....very nice.! Feels like a real cottage or cabin..with plenty of room. Beautiful property, always so clean...and Jim & Paula are prefect host... The eggs , biscuits, and jam are a wonderful surprise... Even though was a little hot & humid my son and I still caught several nice size bass and a couple if HUGE bluegill..... We try to come atleast once a year and of course we will be back in the spring...Lord willing...Thanks again Paula & Jim for sharing a piece of your paradise!

The place was nice & quiet. We spent most of our time outside fishing. We didn't catch anything big but, we still had a great time. We enjoyed the canoe. If you bring a firestick you can watch Netflix at night. We had a small problem with the BBQ pit but, Paula responded quick & brought us another one! We are definitely gonna go back!
