Sunset Bay is a few miles from the tiny community of Olivia and a few miles from the tiny community of Port Alto. There is a boat ramp in Olivia available to the public. Olivia is on the Great Texas Birding Trail. The small Haterius State Park is a few miles away and also has a public boat ramp. The closest convenience store is 7 miles away for beer, wine, ice, bait, fishing supplies, etc. Fishville Trading Post is the nearest restaurant and is 14 miles from Sunset Bay. A larger assortment of restaurants, bars, shopping, etc are found in Port Lavaca and Palacios (15 miles). Seadrift, Rockport, Port O’connor and Victoria are all within about 1 hr.
