Dublin Portmarnock Beach Hotels

"I actually found the Marine by accident. I'm glad I did because the whole experience was awesome. The hotel was built in 1897 and has the classic lines and architecture of the time. The views from the rear of the hotel were amazing Irish sea views that are available in the lobby and dining room. We didn't get a sea view room because they were all booked. Even though our room was on the front of the hotel closest to the street, our room was super quiet. Since there is no air conditioning in the rooms, we opened the windows and still wasn't bothered by noise. We were there in early May, so the weather was perfect for sleeping with the windows open. We ate the breakfast buffet every morning. It's simple fair of egg, sausage, bacon, hashbrowns and a bread selection with local jams and butter. Of course, hot tea, coffee and multiple juices. Everything was fresh and always full. We also ate supper two nights and the food was excellent. Theres not a huge menu selection but it was more than adequate. The bar was as cool as the rest of the hotel with a decent liquor, wine and beer selection. The bartender is a real worker who buzzed from one end of the bar to the other, always attentive and knowledgeable. Our room was clean, large and comfortable. One small complaint was the bed. It was a little on the hard side. When we make it back to Ireland, I would not hesitate to stay at the Marine or recommend it to friends or family."

"Desk clerk was rude when we asked about the airport shuttle. No real help at all. Plus I’m seeing a charge on my credit card that looks like for the airport shuttle? I thought this was one of the hotel amenities. Supposed to pick us up and drop us off at the airport"

"The staff were very friendly and the hotel was clean. However, I do feel it was over priced. We had come from another hotel that was cheaper and just that step better in all areas for the price. "

"Bedroom was clean, bed was very comfortable, pillows were great. Breakfast was delicious, i am gluten free, had great options. Shuttle service was easy to and from the airport. "

"Thankfully only had a 1 night stay here before going to catch a flight the girl on the desk checking us in was litterly the only good thing about the hotel. She was lovely. Our room was very run down torn carpet and not clean. The bathroom was disgusting, sink plug was brown with dirt and shower was the same. We got up at 5am to shower and catch our flight only to discover we had no water. Went to use phone to call down to reception to realise it wasn't working. Hubby rang with his mobile to get a guy who basically said sorry workers hit pipe there's no water and hung up. Not so much as an offer of bottled water to even brush our teeth. We gathered our stuff and went down to check out. Not a staff member to b found. Eventually found someone putting kitchen stuff out who just said aye leave your cards out there on the reception desk and thay was it. I have never been in a worse hotel in my life. 3 star is very generous. It was awful and there is no way I would ever return. Do yourselves a favour and book somewhere else. You have been warned"

"Great hotel my only criticism would be the room was hard to get to and from with a lot of luggage when I was checking out there was no one to help with luggage and the elevator from the lobby to the drop off pickup area was broken even though there wasn’t many steps it’s a lot for someone elderly or someone who just had knee surgery "

"Malahide has been our go to for many years. The cricket ground has been a very special place for us as a family with great memories. We have stayed in lots of places around Malahide, this time we decided to stay in the Grand, 9/10 from checking in on line, self check in when we arrived, no need to go to reception, fantastic idea. Rooms amazing, the only thing, we couldn’t work the coffee machine, it just kept putting water in the cup! Yes we used the coffee pods. We did ask the cleaner to help, obviously he couldn’t help either. So no morning coffee was had. This was disappointing. To add to that it would have been nice to have herbal tea, and normal coffee, with sweetener's, knowing the machine didn’t work. We didn’t eat an evening meal in the hotel but the food looked delicious. Staff around the Hotel and sports centre friendly and welcoming."
