Publick House Historic Inn and Country Motor Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"We stayed at 13 different hotels over 14 nights. Several of them were good, some of them were quite good. None of the 12 that were not Publick House compared to Publick House. That's not idle talk. Public House was just as charming as could be. I love old architecture. Main building was built in 1750. Our breakfast, from the "bake shop," sets the bar for delicious pastries. Really. And the staff were super. They smiled, not out of required obligation, so far as one could tell, but because they had genuine charm and graciousness. I was particularly charmed by Chrissy, out waitress at the best restaurant we went to over our 15-day trip. She was in my age group (not young), and was, frankly, as sweet as could be. Not too much, just right. Everything abut Publick House was just right."
"I stayed here alone when I came to visit my son who lives in Providence. This place is beautiful! It is a renovated historical Boston hotel. The room I had felt like a comfortable, cozy, well appointed bedroom not a hotel room. Staff was always at the front desk no matter the hour and was accommodating. Bottled water, soda, morning snacks and evening cookies are included with the resort fee which I did not expect. It is located in a very quiet area. There were a few homeless people down the street to the left of the hotel, but if you are driving or walking to the right they are not a concern. I felt very safe in the hotel. Would stay here again. "
"Went to a show at the Strand and it was so convenient to park and walk to venue. Great property with its own speakeasy… lots of food options in walking distance."
"Really nice, friendly, and helpful staff, above average room, very good and included breakfast. Fresh baked hot cookies in the lobby every night is a REALLY nice touch that other motels would be very smart to copy, as it really made this motel memorable, and would have me staying here again next time I am in this area, it just connects you with the staff, and makes you feel extra welcome when staying here and chatting over warm fresh baked cookies. The area is also reasonably convenient to highways and local restaurants, so there is plenty of reasonable options for food nearby. "
