Famous because it was the site of important peace treaties after World War I, the city of Rapallo rises in the western part of the Gulf of Tigullio, and is also known for its seafront promenade and the Shrine of Our Lady of Montallegro.Rapallo's sumptuous defensive castle overlooks the Ligurian sea and is surrounded by small beaches, lined by the fabulous Vittorio Veneto Promenade. Not to be missed is the only one of the five remaining gates of the ancient “walled village,” the “Porta delle Saline,” which faces the sea and houses the Baroque altar with the Madonna of Montallegro.
The accommodation is about a 10-minute drive from Rapallo train station and a 40-minute drive from Genoa airport.
