I've been looking forward to experiencing Hotel Garber since my first visit to Red Cloud in 2021, when the hotel was in early planning stages. It far surpassed all my hopes. The design is impeccable, it's comfortable and well-appointed. Breakfast was tasty and convenient. It's also so conveniently located half a block from the doorstep of Willa Cather Center. The cherry on top is the friendly staff who made me feel right at home.

Nicely restored hotel in a historic building on the Main Street of a small peaceful town on the Nebraska prairie. Friendly and welcoming staff made for an especially pleasant stay. It was so nice to get off the freeway to see rural Nebraska.

Cute place with friendly staff, newly renovated (opened early April 2025), very clean. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast is basic (eggs, biscuits, gravy, fruit, oatmeal, coffee, tea and juice), but freshly prepared and affordable; a good option in Red Cloud!

Hotel Garber is exactly the kind of place you hope to find when you're wandering through small-town America—clean, calm, and way cooler than you'd expect. It's got that "modern comfort meets historical soul" kind of vibe going on, and it pulls it off beautifully. The building itself has real presence. You can feel the history in the walls, but nothing feels old or rundown. They’ve clearly put care into updating things without stripping away the original charm. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, with just enough personality to remind you you’re not in a cookie-cutter chain hotel off the interstate. Location-wise? Couldn’t be better. You’re steps away from downtown Red Cloud, Willa Cather’s stomping grounds, and the kind of slow-paced charm that makes you remember why small towns matter. And the staff? Total pros—warm, helpful, and happy to chat or leave you be, whichever you prefer. There’s no attitude here, just genuine hospitality. Hotel Garber feels like a hidden retreat that respects its past while offering the kind of rest and peace you hope to find when you’re traveling with purpose—or just getting away from it all. Highly recommend.
