Take a drive and explore or sit back and relax on a steam train journey into the heart of the national park and ‘Heartbeat’ country via the villages of Grosmont and Goathland. Just 3 miles from the coast and within easy reach of the Victorian town of Saltburn by the Sea and fishing villages such as Staithes, Sandsend and Runswick Bay to name a few. The beaches at nearby Skinningrove can be viewed from the Cleveland Way that snakes its way across the stunning North Yorkshire Heritage Coast. Bird watchers and nature lovers will be excited by the RSPB centre at Saltholme to the north where many birds can be spotted and Seal Sands, where a glimpse of the seals that have made their home in the most unlikely of surroundings can sometimes be viewed.
