Thank you for your comments regarding the amazing sunsets and the large spacious grounds of the house with the private heated pool and Jacuzzi. Your large group had plenty of room to spread out, and we look forward to the opportunity to host you again in the future.

Thank you for saying that we are really nice people. We are always happy to host our guests and we do appreciate constructive feedback. We want to improve the guest experience whenever and wherever we can. And we are always disappointed when guests are unhappy. This is definitely a case where the property was not right for this group and unfortunately, that happens from time to time. The group was four people (mom, dad, and 2 kids) and we definitely agree with the guest that the price point of this house makes the house a better value for larger groups. We feel we present the house honestly -- it is advertised as a "Spacious Oceanfront Home with Private Pool and Jacuzzi" -- all accurate. In the first paragraph of the listing we describe it as follows -- "The home is furnished with comfort in mind for large family groups." We feel this is accurate and the guest is correct, in a 3,000+ square foot house with 5 bedrooms, the furniture does not all match. We do respectfully disagree that "no money is put back into the house." In March 2022 a new upgraded 400,000 BTU pool heater was installed ($4400), in February 2022, a new Samsung High-Capacity washing machine and dryer ($1800) were installed, and every mattress pad was replaced as well as all pillow protectors. In January 2022, new sheets sets were installed, in November 2021 new silverware, pots, pans, wine glasses, hot pads, barbecue tools, throw rugs, in October 2021 a new BBQ ($500), and I could go on and on. During the past two months, several days were off the calendar for general handyman work. The truth about running a very busy popular vacation rental is that almost everything is replaced regularly and repairs/touch ups are constant. Had the guest reached out about the trashcan and towels during her stay, new items would have been happily provided for her immediate use. We appreciate a guest letting us know when an item is past its prime. (Brand new towels and a trashcan are in place now of course.) The jacuzzi is serviced weekly by the pool company on Fridays, so they were able to rebalance the chemicals the day after the guest checked in. We regret that this small family of 4 was not able to appreciate the house, but the idea that no one is taking care of it couldn't be further from the truth.

Thank you for highlighting the many nice features of Villa Mar Vista--we enjoyed having you as guests and appreciate you being mindful of the quiet hours. We also appreciate you recognizing that we jump on problems right away, like having the temperature sensor on the spa replaced right away after you altered us. As for the pool heat, we have not had this issue before and if you had let us know you were having an issue during your stay, we would have had it repaired immediately. Many groups find the snack machine to be very convenient, particularly for drink items like water, 3 flavors of Gatorade, Red Bull, and Monster. We keep the machine off unless a group wants it turned on. The machine was off when you arrived and it remained off your entire stay. Your family was delightfully and we thank you again and hope you come back to San Diego soon.

Villa Mar Vista is a 1960's era mid-century modern ranch house that is far larger than it looks from the street so that most visitors are impressed with its size and spaciousness--especially when they rent the optional guesthouse--Casita del Agua. We concur with you and our other guests who overwhelmingly comment about the wonderful oceanfront location and beautiful Sunset Cliffs nature park that Villa Mar Vista overlooks . Our cleaning crew is working overtime during COVID to make sure our enhanced deep cleaning protocols are keeping everyone safe--and it is working as we have no reports any transmission at any of our homes. We go above and beyond other vacation rentals by providing COVID-19 Kits in plastic containers stocked with hand sanitizer, disposable gloves and masks, portable spray sanitizer, Chinet paper plates and bowls, plastic cutlery, extra kleenex, etc. Also keeping you safe is the fact that San Diego also has a very low transmission rate compared to other vacation destinations in the U.S. As you aptly describe Villa Mar Vista has everything a destination vacation home should have. Many families do exactly what your family enjoyed during your stay and that is to relax and enjoy all the amenities of the house offers, including toys and games for the kids, a brand new $1700 Ping Pong table, soccer balls and kickballs and the cornhole game for the big grassy backyard--not to mention floaties and pool toys for the pool and Jacuzzi. The 5000 square foot fenced and gated rear yard described in the listing also includes the pool and pool deck which is an expansive part of the backyard yard plus the green grass area that you mentioned so together the outdoor entertainment area is one of the largest fenced and gated backyards of any oceanfront home in San Diego. The furnishings in the house are identical to those shown in the photos and the virtual tour so our guests know prior to arrival the quality and quantity of furnishings. We are always available 24/7 to bring our guests pack n plays, high chairs, baby gates, cornhole games and other items that they need.

We greatly enjoyed hosting your large group at Villa Mar Vista which can accommodate groups of up to 22 by renting the optional guesthouse. We were pleased to bring you everything that you needed during your stay and we always appreciate guests who tell us what they need during their stay than to wait until after they have left to mention something. You are right on that the ocean views from the front deck and the pool and grassy backyard are three things that make Villa Mar Vista a hit with large groups.

You hit the nail on the head in describing the amazing views and beautiful sunsets from the front deck nightly. The pool and hot tub are the perfect end to every day of sightseeing and enjoying the nearby beaches.

We are thrilled to have made your family's Christmas Holiday so memorable. We strive to have the best-stocked homes in San Diego and whenever we can bring a guest more of something that is already at the home (cookie sheets in this case) we jump on the opportunity and typically deliver needed items within 60 minutes. The beautiful ocean path you mention runs for 2 miles along the Sunset Cliffs Nature Park which stretches between the Pacific Ocean and Villa Mar Vista.

We greatly enjoyed hosting your multi-generation family group of 17 persons. The optional guesthouse provides bed spaces for up to 22 persons so Villa Mar Vista is perfect for the largest family vacations. The pool and the wading pool and the above-ground Jacuzzi provide plenty of room for even the largest groups and the front deck that you mentioned has a gorgeous view that provides memorable nightly sunsets with no two sunsets being the same.
