Not what we had hoped for

We have done lots of holidays like this as a family. Unfortunately this experience was not what we hoped for. The villa was fine... clean but a little dated. Air con only in the kitchen and not in any of the bedrooms, which are only cooled by floor-standing fans. The power to the property trips multiple times per day, which is an inconvenience because you have to get up multiple times in the night to search for the fuse box in the dark. Until this problem is rectified, I do not recommend staying there. When the power trips there is no running water and no flushing toilet, not to mention no lights, fans, etc. We also experienced two very prolonged regional power cuts. Clearly these are not the fault of the owners, but they also refused to help us in any meaningful (VRBO also failed to help us too for that matter). We were trapped on the inside of the electric gate for 2 hours on one occasion in 40+ celsius heat with no way to escape (that is not safe for if there was a fire or medical emergency) and in addition we had to endure two nights with no fans to cool young children in the heat. The owners knew when the power would be restored but failed to communicate this to their guests. The property manager said she was at a party and couldn't help. The owner didn't pick up the phone and VRBO refused to help and told us to speak to the owner... pretty poor all round.
