Great location, friendly staff, bike were great. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is the noise from State Street is so loud it was hard to sleep. We had to get ear plugs.

Very nice hotel, it was cozy, very convenient to the main corridor that leads to restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. We loved the elevator, it was nice to experience a bit of the past, possibly the 1920’s type of elevator. Make sure you go in and stay a night and enjoy the moment.

The staff, upon learning it was my birthday, upgraded my room to king size bed, put up a happy birthday sign on the headboard, and left bubbles and chocolate for me as well. A really kind and thoughtful touch that made my stay feel more intimate and personal. All the staff were great and love the new bar 1926. Have stayed at this hotel many times over the years and really love the renovation. Such a great location and all around vibe!

Stayed at Hotel Santa Barbara on March 8, 2026 and had a very concerning experience.
We checked in around 9:30 PM under the reservation name Vanessa Gonzalez and were assigned Room 415. The air conditioning in the room wasn’t working, so around midnight the hotel moved us to Room 315.
During the transfer, individuals described by the hotel as “third-party security” were allowed into our room to inspect the AC and were then permitted to help move our luggage. Shortly after the move, I discovered that my Movado watch (valued roughly $2,500–$4,000) was missing.
There is a camera directly outside Room 415 and the hotel has key-card access logs that should show who entered the room.
Instead of helping resolve the situation, front desk staff Alex Smith and Dylan Dupont were rude, dismissive, and escalated the situation by calling the police even though we were calm and simply trying to report the missing item. Police responded and a report was filed, which made the situation unnecessarily embarrassing.
The interaction also included comments referencing my being Hispanic, which made the situation even more uncomfortable.
I hope management reviews the hallway cameras and access logs from that night. Guests should feel safe leaving their belongings in their room. Unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience here.

The Hotel Santa Barbara property was very nice. Central location, clean, with very friendly staff. Housekeeping is "by request" so you have to let the front desk know if/when you need service.
The Central location was also a minor drawback since our room was right on State Street so street noise at night was noticeable. A pop-up crepes tent showed up just outside our window each night which contributed to the noise. Additionally, there was a wedding party/guests also staying on our floor who got loud at night. The next tine I stay there (there will be a next time) I will request a room in a quieter section of the hotel. I give the hotel 5 stars for the premises and staff, but 4 stars just due to the noise we experienced on our 3 night stay.

The hotel is very cute with beautiful architecture. It’s right downtown and within walking distance to just about anything. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was excellent, right down to the valet parking attendants. We loved the fresh cold water and ice on the each floor.
Would highly recommend this hotel and would stay again.

The hotel went absolutely above and beyond to help me pull off the ultimate birthday surprise. They decorated her room beautifully and had her birthday cake waiting right there for us. Seeing her face light up made the entire trip. The hotel is newly renovated, and the design is beautiful — a mix of historic charm and modern elegance. Our room felt warm, elevated, and peaceful. It’s the kind of space that makes you want to slow down and actually enjoy where you are. And the location couldn’t be better. It’s right in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, surrounded by cafés, bakeries, wine bars — all just steps away.

Would absolutely stay again. The customer service is exceptional. My only suggestion is to avoid rooms overlooking State street. It is extremely noisy until early in the morning.
