September 2024 Beach Trip

Wonderful week

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were delighted to find a house on the beach that could accommodate a smaller group of people (6 of us). We typically find a house that requires a golf cart ride to get to the beach. Semper Fi allowed us to simply walk out the door to the beach. Restaurants were within walking distance as well. Perfect for our family of young adults. Only wish the house had 3 full bathrooms.

Reviewer Comments: This was our second stay , all in all everything was fine...but we did notice in the kitchen under the baseboard next to refrigerator near sink as well as under the bar area cabinet, there was some type of splatter that needs to be cleaned, not sure what it was but definitely food or drink...there was also a lot of weeds growing up the side of house along the walk way and the step area.

This was our first time staying on the beach as a family, and it’s the only way to go.(especially with two small boys) I grew up vacationing in Grayton Beach. I love the non touristy charm that this area still possesses. The property was beautiful and clean. The porch was an amazing place to hangout while we weren’t on the beach. We loved our stay at the amazing property, and hope to come back every year!

Right on the beach

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It's difficult to find beach houses located right on the beach that are designed to accommodate one family. This 3BR is perfect. We have family that lives in Santa Rosa, and the large living and dining area comfortably accommodates a larger group if you have additional visitors. The photos accurately represent the home and the view. Note that it is located right next to the public beach access where locals are allowed to drive/park their cars on the beach in front of the house, which can get active from time to time. However, if you want a little more space on the beach, you can walk down to the right a bit and set up, as this strip of beach is buffered by a state park. The house is less than a 2-minute walk to restaurants and bars.

Semper Fi fall break

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We thoroughly enjoyed our beachfront experience at Semper Fi. The living & kitchen areas are very large and well stocked. The wide front porch was a wonderful place to start & end each day. A day bed out front would've been even better! The location directly adjacent to the wide beach was the best! Our teenage children fished & paddleboarded in Western lake, and Seaside was close enough for them to bike into most every day. Quite frankly, we enjoyed not being in the crowds and far away from the beach as we would have been in "town."

Beach view

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall this house was good. The location to a private beach was awesome but it does overlook a public beach with cars and lots of traffic. . There were a few things we were not happy with, first of which being the owner lives right next door. As someone that personally owns multiple properties in Texas I feel that if you have a property management company you need to let them do their thing and you stay out of it. A few different times she would run over or try to talk from her deck but in a nosey, not helpful way. She even ran over to shut our gate once when my 3 year old was on the deck with my was annoying. The path to the beach isn’t a long walk but it’s overgrown and for my 3 year old the prickly grass from the dunes was right in his face. So we had to carry him. Every.single.time. It would be nice if this was either better maintained (wider path of just sand) or a deck path built to walk out on. Lastly and most importantly there is next to nothing you can use on the beach. There is one old, broken umbrella that we had to rig (after pulling it out from under the house ourselves) to have any shade and 5 older, rusty beach chairs (there are 2 small ones that are newer). No sand toys, snorkel gear etc. This is the only place we’ve ever stayed, from Destin to Seaside, that didn’t offer a good sturdy umbrella, chairs and toys! Just crazy! Flying from Texas it is not practical to travel with that stuff so it was very disappointing. It was also frustrating to see the owner set up right next to us on the beach with TWO brand new umbrellas for just her and one friend while we are next to her with an old broken one just trying to shade the kids. Again, don’t offer up the info that you own the place and then do that. Overall, the house is adorable and was pretty clean. If the house had more beach gear and wasn’t right next door to the owner we would stay there again. We are looking for a different house for next year though
