We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The location is very nice - the Tea Lake looks small on the map, but it was actually a decent size. The cottage is literally next to the small waterway linking Tea Lake to the neighboring lakes.
There was a nice selection of canoes and kayaks, as well as pedal boats. Surprisingly both canoes were able to fit all 3 of us. They were a bit on the small side and a bit wobbly, but still manageable. It was also the first time we tried kayaking - it wasn’t nearly as scary as we thought it would be. I think most of the kayaks were of the beginner kind, since they seemed very stable and sturdy. We brought our own life jackets, but the place had plenty of these - they looked relatively new and there was a good selection for different age groups and sizes. Boats and equipment were shared among the 3 Tea Lake cottages owned by the same person, but we didn’t have any problems - things were available when we needed them.
The cottage itself is very small, but has pretty much everything that you may need. The TV is big and comes with a Netflix account, although we just used the Apple TV we brought with us. The second bedroom is very tight - there is just enough space for the bed, and that’s it. Neither of the bedrooms had a dresser, just some hooks on the wall. The fact that the couch could be transformed into a bed (it’s a futon) was a nice bonus.
The washroom is very small, which was evident from the photos, but pretty clean and somewhat renovated. It could do with some hooks on the walls for hanging towels and clothes.
The biggest problem we had was the shower. The size is very small - barely enough for one person to stand there, almost touching the walls. But what made it almost unusable was the lack of proper drainage - there were four tiny slits in the middle and they were not nearly enough to drain the water when taking a shower. As a result, the water started accumulating immediately, making you stand in the dirty water as well as having to get out of the shower ASAP or switch off the water while you shampooed your hair. We notified the owner about this, and he said he will get it checked out, but it seems a design flaw, maybe an intentional one?
There were two AC wall units, one very old and noisy. But the other one was able to cool the whole place.
BBQ was pretty basic, needing a lighter, but functional.
Neighbours, who arrived on a Friday, were very noisy and hogged the shared dock most of the day.
