The property photos — many items shown are old, broken, or completely unusable. There was no outdoor lighting, and the glasses were dusty and poorly maintained. "While this stay lacks in the polished stays of a fancy resort it makes up ten-fold in charm and personality. This was the coziest most wonderful stay we've had on our trip yet and we'll definitely be back. Located a mere 4 minute walk from the train station and a 1 minute from the beach this was the low key break we needed. The stay was clean with great amenities. The foot bath and soaking tub were great ways to end each day and the locality to nearby convenience stores made grabbing a bevvie...

"This is the best hotel I stayed at during my Tokyo-Yokohama-Hakone trip. The largest room, great breakfast buffet, polite staff, great amenities, especially the baths and lounge area. Tucked away from the busy city, much more calm and serene. A very short walk to the train station to get everywhere else. I'd definitely recommend this hotel."

"We had an amazing time at the Ten-Yu Hakone Property. Staff was helpful, we got very nice mountain facing rooms, and they gave us rooms together per our request. The rooms were super clean and beautiful. The dinner and breakfast buffet were excellent. we just wished we could have stayed longer. I would definitely recommend this property to everyone. I would give it 6 stars out of 5 if I could."

As we booked last minute free shuttle bus was unavailable. 2mins walk to cable car and pirate ship. Trail walk around the lake. Our one night stay was not long enough. Bedrooms not huge but liked the proper shower"

"This was a no frills, older hotel with nothing around but it was well maintained and clean and the staff was very friendly & helpful and spoke some English. There is a toilet & sink in the room but no tub or shower--you need to go downstairs for the shower and onsen but it's for your own private use (reserve your time to use at the front desk). The bus stop is in front of the hotel but only runs twice every hour. Within a 13-minute walk is the ropeway at Ubako which will take you down to Lake Ashinoko area where you can catch the pirate ship. Having the Hakone Freepass is highly recommended as you can use it many times on the ropeway and pirate ship as well as the Tozan buses. It also gives you discounts at various tourist attractions."
