This ingenious home is luxuriously off-the-grid, with solar power, water harvesting, integrated greenhouse & expansive glass offering views of mountains & star filled nights. We even have "surprisingly good" WiFi throughout the home!

For Earthship aficionados, our home is a "global model", the pinnacle of sustainable design and architectural beauty without sacrificing comfort.

Our Earthship, built in 2013, is off-the-grid, meaning all electricity and heating/cooling are solar powered. Water is harvested from rainfall, and used multiple times after domestic use including watering plants in the beautiful integrated greenhouse. The ample New Mexico sun even creates the heat for hot water. The house was constructed with mostly recycled and natural materials, including tires and recycled glass. Everything was lovingly handcrafted and artistic touches abound.

An Earthship is not for everyone. You'll find all the comforts of a modern home, but you need to be conservative in your use of water and electricity. It's much easier to be mindful of resource use and in tune with nature with the expansive views -- you'll see sunrises, sunsets, starry skies, and can watch weather move across the mesa with long range views to the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

The Internet access is quite good most of the time, but since you are off-grid sometimes the WiFi can slow down and it can be frustrating. We find the Wifi suitable for streaming television and video calls most of the time, but not always so please be advised. Cell phone reception is limited.

Our guests are amazed at how easy and rewarding it is to experience an earth-sheltered natural home and enjoy learning how to help the house perform at its best :) You maintain comfortable temperatures by opening and closing vents, windows and doors - participation is a must!

We are located in the world famous Earthship Biotecture, just outside the beautiful town of Taos, New Mexico. We are located about 20 minutes from the town of Taos and about 45 minutes from the Taos Ski Valley, one of the premier ski destinations in the world.
