Our family has stayed in Mariner's Compass the past 3 summers for our "week in paradise!" I first stayed on St George Island in the early 80's and upon my return in 2008 I was delighted to find the island unspoiled by high rises & clubs and was thrilled to share the quiet island experience with my family! Finding Mariner's in it's first rental year was a fabulous treat for our little family of 4 from Iowa. We are very happy to hear that the house is now under new ownership and look forward to a return visit to enjoy the new decor & updates noted in the photos! This house is truly a "best kept secret" and sits on the best strip of the Gulf in the Plantation. Mariner's has always been well stocked, clean and inviting and is the perfect size for our family of four. Our 2 teens take turns claiming the loft with private balcony or the queen room with sliders to the deck while we enjoyed the king master with sliders to the other side of the huge deck. We love the winding boardwalk to the beach, outdoor shower, tuck under parking and the gorgeous views of the Gulf from the deck with palms leaning nearby. Last year we brought our bikes and enjoyed early morning rides through the trails. Mariner's is conveniently located mid-Plantation so it was a fun ride West to the Cut or East to Gulf Beaches. So, one week each summer we head south to our perfect escape! We love the island charm, and its' calm, quiet beauty - magnificent sunrises & sunsets, watching dolphins, shelling, swimming, sunning, beach combing, boogie boarding & family laughter. Last summer we watched quietly in awe, sitting on a towel, while mama sea turtle nested right in front of the house! Camping in Yellowstone, Disney resorts, and the hustle & bustle of Myrtle Beach have never lured us back, but Mariner's Compass has never failed to charm & delight us and we are eager to return... :D
