Wonderful setting in the Scottish countryside! The view from the guest room was amazing and lives up to its name of "Hillview Cottage!" Jon was extremely friendly and had plenty of good recommendations of things to do, see, and eat in the area. I would recommend visiting for at least a day or two and using Hillview Cottage as a home base! He cooks a mean breakfast that is large and tasty! We would gladly stay again if in the area!

We booked this last minute after a rough day and it was just what we needed: friendly owner who cheered us up, friendly dogs (including a puppy to snuggle), comfortable room, good breakfast. Would stay again!

Buyer beware: no refunds; no help;

Be aware that rooms are prepaid and are not refundable. Our train was late and they would not accommodate a late arrival check in(after 8pm). When we arrived in Stirring after midnight, we had no where to stay. When asked about a refund, he was very adamant about the non refund policy and told us to refer to our travel insurance. He was very rude and condescending

Although the room was clean there was Capet squares in the bathroom. The thing that bothered me the most was when you entered you could tell it was someone’s home. It was very cluttered and so much stuff in the hallways you could almost not get to your room The host was interesting and the breakfast was ok with hot beverages coming out of a machine like in a convience store. Too cluttered and overwhelming for me.

Comfortable B&B

Very comfortable B&B with a friendly and helpful host, John. Great breakfast with John very happy to adapt to individual needs. Location beautiful and very good for Stirling, Callander, Safari park and the Trossachs trail. We stayed for 5 nights and would definitely stay again if we are ever that way.

Lovely countryside stay at Hillview Cottage

Hillview Cottage was a lovely place to stay. Our host, John, was very friendly and helpful. Our room was bright and airy, and everything was in perfect working order. WIFI signal was fine. Our windows looked out on the cows grazing in the next field, and the hens wandering about John's back yard. The full breakfast was good, and included very fresh eggs. Obviously Hillview in the countryside, but it was only about a fifteen minute drive into Stirling and a 10 minute drive to a pub for dinner. You need a car to stay there. There are no restaurants within walking distance and I doubt public transit into Stirling is that good. Hence the average rating for Local Area.

Quite area 5 miles outside Thornhill (near Stirling). Easy to find when using GPS. Recommend Lion&Unicorn for meals.

Sehr nette Begrüßung,alles sehr familiär. Zimmer sauber und nett eingerichtet. Das Frühstück war schmackhaft und mehr wie ausreichend. Die Umgebung ist wirklich wünderschön und recht zentral gelegen zu den jeweiligen Ausflugspunkten. W-Lan funktioniert einwandfrei und auch Handyempfang ist ausreichend.
